Shooter who was randomly firing at people and killing then in Philadelphia identified
The rifle-wielding suspect who donned a bulletproof vest before allegedly shooting dead five men and injuring two children in Philadelphia has been identified as a Black Lives Matter supporter who shared gun-toting memes on social media.
Kimbrady Carriker, 40, was nabbed shortly after the bloodshed in the city’s Kingsessing neighborhood Monday night, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported, citing sources.
Kimbrady Carriker, 40, was seen near 56th Street between Chester and Springfield Avenues “shooting aimlessly” at occupied vehicles and people on the street as they walked, said Ransom.
The suspect was wearing body armor, a ski mask and wielding an AR-15 style assault rifle, he said. The suspect also was found with a handgun, multiple magazines of ammunition and a police scanner.
The shooter fired at a car being driven by a mother, who was taking her twins home, and injured one of the children, who sustained a gunshot wound to the legs, said Ransom. The other twin sustained injuries to the eyes from glass, he said.

Fourth of July: White House dropped news that cocaine was found in the west wing
The U.S. Secret Service is investigating a suspicious substance that prompted a brief evacuation when it was found Sunday evening inside the White House, according to law enforcement authorities.
In a preliminary test, the substance, a white powder, indicated positive for cocaine, according to an official familiar with the investigation and the recording of a dispatch from a D.C. fire crew that responded to the incident.
A spokesman for the Secret Service, Anthony Guglielmi, said the substance is undergoing further testing to determine what it is, and authorities are looking into how it got into the White House. He said the D.C. fire department determined the substance did not present a threat.

Idaho murders suspect Bryan Kohberger stands silent at arraignment, not guilty pleas entered
The trial set for October start date..
When Judge asked Kohberger to enter a plea at the arraignment, defense attorney Anne Taylor stood up and declined on behalf of her client.
“Your honor we will be standing silent,” she told the court.
That prompted Judge to enter not guilty pleas on the defendant’s behalf.
During the highly procedural 15-minute hearing, Judge read all the counts and possible prison sentences for each before asking Kohberger if he understood.

New Earth-Like Volcanic World Discovered Just 86 Light-Years Away
The planet, called LP 791-18 d, is akin to both Earth and to Jupiter’s moon Io, the most volcanic world in the solar system, which NASA spacecraft Juno photographed earlier this week.
Published on Wednesday in the journal Nature, a new paper reveals a new, roughly Earth-sized temperate world around a nearby small star that suffers from much the same gravitational tug-of-war from a Neptune-like sister planet that Jupiter’s moons do. As a result it’s expected to have strong volcanic activity on its surface.
