The world has become an oyster for hackers among us

There is a whole lot of chaos going on from hacked freezers to warnings of impending nuclear attack. maybe it’s time to get the 3 days of supplies after all..

What in the World Is Going On?!

What in the world is going on?! No, seriously.

Last month, hundreds of grocery stores in France were hacked, and the result was freezers being messed with by whoever the perpetrators were, causing food to spoil. And today, that same thing happened again, but this time in seven countries. Freezers and refrigerators at stores across Europe had their temperatures increased, in some cases to a staggering 122 degrees Fahrenheit, forcing stores to throw away food. Nobody has publicly claimed responsibility for either attack. (AFP)

At the same time, Germany issued warnings to some of its politicians and government officials that their iPhones may have been compromised by spyware and that sensitive information could potentially have been accessed. The warnings reportedly began arriving on October 29, but the situation became public knowledge as these other events were unfolding. (Euronews)

All of this comes as Russia and Ukraine woke up to reports that emergency alert applications had been hacked, sending warnings to people’s phones about nuclear attacks, radiation threats, and chemical attacks. None of those reported threats was actually occurring, but instead, malicious interference by hackers, we’re told, led to those terrifying messages. The incidents occurred hours apart, and authorities have not established who was responsible or whether the attacks were connected. (Reuters)

And just days ago, governments were once again telling people to stockpile food, water, and emergency supplies in case of a crisis. With all these hackings now occurring, one wonders if the world has just gotten too out of control for itself.

There is no evidence at this point that all of these incidents are connected, but that doesn’t make the timing or the implications any less unsettling.

What have we become, and what is happening? But an even more fearful question is, what will happen next?
