Media outlets are now reporting on the name of the purported terrorist on Bourbon Street..
The suspect accused of mowing down a crowd of New Year’s revelers on Bourbon Street in New Orleans early Wednesday has been identified as Shamsud Din Jabbar, Fox News Digital has confirmed.
Jabbar is a 42-year-old resident of Houston, Texas. Police shot and killed him after he crashed his pickup truck and began to shoot at officers.
A Glock handgun and .308 caliber rifle equipped with optics and a sensor were recovered from the crime scene, according to a high-level source familiar who was not authorized to discus details of the investigation publicly. An ISIS flag was also found on the pickup truck. There are at least four to five other suspects involved, the source said.
The Sugar Bowl College Football Playoff quarterfinal between Notre Dame and Georgia will still be played as scheduled at 8:45 p.m. ET at the Superdome stadium in New Orleans, according to authorities, despite the deadly attack on New Year’s revelers on Bourbon Street overnight that killed at least 10 and injured at least 35..
“We are going to make sure that our routes and the Superdome are safe today for the game, and yet, we had this tragic event, and we’re sorry again to everyone in our community,” New Orleans Police Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said Wednesday morning.
Organizers of the annual football game said they are “devastated.”

As the clock struck midnight, we welcomed the arrival of a brand-new 2025. While we did that, an unusual moment unfolded just hours before the New Year’s celebrations reached their peak, leaving us to wonder: was this nature’s final exclamation point on 2024, or a foreboding sign for the year ahead?
In the lead-up to the iconic Times Square ball drop, a powerful weather system swept across the East Coast, bringing heavy rain to many areas—including the heart of New York City. Amid the downpours, lightning illuminated the skies, with strikes captured on camera and video.
In a weird coincidence, both the United States Capitol and One World Trade Center were struck by lightning nearly simultaneously. This extraordinary moment added an electrifying twist to the final hours of the year.
As we look ahead to 2025, let’s choose to see this as one last flash of 2024—a vivid sendoff for a year now behind us—rather than a harbinger of challenges to come. Here’s to brighter days ahead.
