So.. the fix really is in!

Just when you thought sports were all honest, all moral and aboveboard — you were wrong. And if you knew that already, you were only seeing the tip of the iceberg. Because this latest story suggests a mountain of issues lies beneath.

The head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers, Chauncey Billups, and a player for the Miami Heat, Terry Rozier, were arrested Thursday — along with more than 30 other people — as part of two sprawling criminal cases. One case alleges a vast scheme to manipulate underground poker games backed by Mafia families. The other involves illegal sports-betting operations tapping into insider NBA information.

Billups is charged in the poker-game scheme; Rozier is accused in the sports-betting scheme using private NBA info. Both face wire-fraud and money-laundering conspiracy charges.

This doesn’t just raise questions — it sets off alarm bells. Because if major figures in professional sports are allegedly part of this kind of corruption, what else might be going on behind the scenes?

We will keep following this one. But we think it’s going to be developing quite a bit.

No, better time than now than read this book!!

TYSON- PAUL FIGHT FRAUGHT WITH TECH GLITCHES

The world was watching.. the grand return of Mike Tyson fighting the new self proclaiming face of boxing Jake Paul.

After all of the rounds ended, Jake Paul was awarded victor while Mike Tyson’s stunned and he was agonizing for breath in real time..

But before that less than dramatic end to the overall boring matchup, Netflix streaming was the biggest battle viewers had..

Online social media was graced with a number of comments from users worldwide of streaming problems, freezing screens, botched audio..

This X was amongst the favorites we saw reacting:

For those old enough to remember how watching less than desirable late night movies on HBO and Cinemax were back when you had the box and the channels were scrambled? Think that.

Comically.. at times Mike Tyson looked as he did during his MIKE TYSON PUNCH OUT game from the 1980s..

Iron Mike is less than iron, or “i run” as last night’s announcer kept calling him. But he made for a ‘made for streaming moment’ that frustrated viewers around the world.

Mike Tyson slaps before Friday night fight

    No really..

I mean, I would never accuse boxing of being like the World Wrestling Entertainment federation, and I’m sure you would not either. 😀

    Anyway…

Welcome to your Brat Summer!! Olympics removes controversial opening ceremony video

After all of that inclusion and celebration, the Olympics Committee has removed the “Last Supper” drag queen show from the opening ceremony after a global backlash!!

Initially the committee was striking videos for copyright infringements–most of those YouTubers and TikTokkers were reacting to the video both pro and con..

The controversy may have become too overwhelming–overshadowing the games themselves..

    MORE..

The recreation of Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting ‘The Last Supper’ has hurt the religious sentiments of several Christians. Olympics removes its own opening ceremony video that features drag queens from YouTube.

The act of beheading of Queen Marie Antoinette is also being condemned.

Many viewers felt a “viewer discretion” warning was needed for the ceremony.

Along with that, International Olympic Committee apologized for the blunder of introducing South Korean contingent as North Korea during the opening ceremony.

And… on top of that, it is still raining and there was a report of power outages the night after the opening ceremony..

Puddles on the Paris Olympics.. pre-recorded showcase showdown with AI

Opening day is a wrap.. let the games begin.

But along with those opening ceremonies come the usual controversies.. the unusual.. the bizarre. Those moments in pop culture when you wonder if you want to tap out–or if the occult rumors are true and this is all just some big devilish sideshow act.

Some history was made with Celine Dion, facing medical issues, performing in a grandiose way. Her performance in Paris is being heralded as beautiful..

It’s not the opening cermonies of the Olympics without a controversy

A depiction of the Last Summer in Paris..

    But things weren’t that nice.

Beyond the train terror this morning, the weather being a terror for spectators.

This is how the AP reported the event:

The weather made for some bizarre scenes at the show combining prerecorded and live performances: a stiff upper-lipped pianist played on even as small puddles formed on his grand piano. A breakdancer flipped her moves on the sheen of a rain-drenched platform. Some athletes in Bermuda-style colorful shirts looked dressed for the beach, not a deluge.
Organizers said the weather forced them to scrap some elements of the show considered too dangerous in the slippery conditions.
Still, as global audiences tuned in, Paris put its best foot forward — quite literally, with a spectacular Olympic launch that lifted spirits and joyous French cancan dancers early on. A humorous short film featured soccer icon Zinedine Zidane. Plumes of French blue, white and red smoke followed.

    Some left the opening early..

Israeli athletes are under high security..

A really curious torchbearer was there..

Gaga performed..except it was all prerecorded

And finally.. beyond the pre-recording, get ready for AI..

Warner Bros. Discovery, which will stream the Games on its Max and discovery+ streaming platforms across Europe, received demos from tech companies to translate speech into other languages but the demos have lacked the emotion that comes with heart-racing sports moments, said Scott Young, senior vice president at Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe. “In every part of their (demos), it feels like yes, you’ve translated the words correctly, but you haven’t translated or narrated the feeling,” he said.

    Let the ‘games’ begin indeed..

    Journalism takes a half time

It should be noted that this most likely AI written Mashable article, claiming that Usher “blew up the Internet“ after his halftime performance at the Super Bowl, was published while he was still performing at the Super Bowl.

This is how ‘journalism’ works now. Pre written pre fed and indigestible.

  • World Cup War I

    World Cup War I

    Iran vs USA ..

Iran’s state media has called for the US to be kicked out of the 2022 World Cup after the United States Soccer Federation changed Iran’s flag on its social media platforms to show support for protesters in Iran.

The federation had temporarily displayed Iran’s national flag on its official Twitter, Instagram and Facebook accounts without the emblem of the Islamic Republic. A now-deleted graphic of the Group B standings posted on Saturday displayed the Iranian flag only bearing its green, white and red colors.

US Soccer told CNN on Sunday that it wanted to change the official flag for 24 hours to show “support for the women in Iran fighting for basic human rights” but always planned to go back to the original flag..

Just when you thought it was safe to watch next season’s football, the return of Tom Brady occurs!

Days after Brady’s retirement plans were reported, the longtime Patriots and Bucs QB announced his retirement via social media on Feb. 1. But doubt over how long Brady would actually stay away from the field began almost immediately.

Brady’s retirement ended up lasting all of 40 days — though it was never official as it never came across the league transaction wire.

  • The Bleak Winter Games

    The Bleak Winter Games

These Are the Dystopia OlympicsThere are plenty of good reasons why Americans are largely tuning out from the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. There’s the fatigue factor

From MSN.. a pretty bleak and true assessment of the 2022 Winter Games..

There’s the fatigue factor, as the “2020 Tokyo Summer Games” took place just a few months ago, in Summer 2021—having been delayed for a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

There’s the anticlimactic visuals of once-again empty Olympic stadiums, leaving no live audience for a TV viewer to relate with, as magnificent athletes perform their astounding feats.

But more than anything, the Beijing Games are simply creepy and sad.

And if okay people were watching they’d know! Ratings are just as bleak as the games ..

  • China under fire for treatment of atheists during Winter Games

China under fire for treatment of atheists during Winter Games

Representatives from several countries participating in the Beijing Olympics have taken issue with China’s behavior as a host country, pointing to inhumane conditions for quarantined athletes, unreasonable isolation rules and unexplained media suppression.

…judging from some images being shared around the Internet, the food sure doesn’t make it worth it either.

And maybe what makes it the lease worth of all for NBC is a fact that very few people are watching. Ratings of crashed, there seems to be a lack of interest, and the United States is it a gold medal drought.
