  • Dozens of crew members from the movie “Titanic” were fed soup laced with a hallucinogenic drug while filming in Nova Scotia

Dozens of crew members from the movie “Titanic” were fed soup laced with a hallucinogenic drug while filming in Nova Scotia

The crime was known in 1996. But no one did the time. Then or now. While no one was ever named a suspect, the old event has come back again with a new report being issued..

A new report from the province’s information and privacy commissioner is telling Halifax Regional Police (HRP) to disclose more details about the August 1996 incident, which sent around 80 “Titanic” crew members to hospital in Dartmouth, N.S., including director James Cameron.

Initially fearing food poisoning, all had in fact unknowingly eaten lobster chowder spiked with the drug phencyclidine, which is also known as PCP and angel dust.

    The wild story continues..

“Some people were laughing, some people were crying, some people were throwing up,” actor Bill Paxton told Entertainment Weekly at the time.

The commissioner’s report was made in response to a freedom of information request complaint. While Halifax police initially released 10 pages of records, much of it was heavily redacted.

“The responsive records consist of HRP’s rapid incident report,” Nova Scotia information and privacy commissioner Tricia Ralph explained. “This report is essentially 10 pages of narrative text regarding HRP’s investigation into the alleged lacing of food with PCP. It details who HRP officers talked to and what those people said.”

Halifax Regional Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A suspect was never named and the case was reportedly closed in February 1999.

The “Titanic” crew was in Atlantic Canada to film the movie’s modern-day scenes, which did not involve stars Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio. The crew members all recovered from the unexpected experience.

  • The Octopus Murders: They all float down here

The Octopus Murders: They all float down here

Many of you stopped life this weekend to watch THE OCTPUS MURDERS on Netflix..

It was decent–if you like history or conspiracy theory you may really enjoy. It is a mixture of lots of history that really was conspiracy and really happened–and conjecture that leaves you a bit dismayed or confused and the things you may not know about history. Gen X shock at certain parts for sure…

But if you did watch the doc, you may be like us and scratching your head about one particular part that included information about the Zapruder film and the JFK assassination.

In American Conspiracy: The Octopus Murders, investigative journalist Cheri Seymour recalls being shown what she was told was the “real” Zapruder film, the footage of the 1963 assassination of John F. Kenney. In this version, the driver appears to be the shooter. However, Seymour suggests this was doctored in order to generate confusion and jeopardize her credibility.

The incident unfolded when she went to visit Robert Booth Nichols, a man who claimed to have worked for the CIA. Michael Riconosciuto, one of Hansen and Casolaro’s main sources, said Nichols was “key to The Octopus,” but had warned not to speak to him, describing him as “absolutely scary.”

According to the account in the documentary, she went to visit Nichols at what she believes was a “safe house,” he started playing the Zapruder tape in slow motion. In this version, the driver took out a gun, turned around, and shot Kennedy. When she asked Nichols if it was a doctored tape, he reportedly replied, “This is the original one.”

The public supposedly saw the normal old regular one–you know, the one where the head goes back and to the left but the limo driver didn’t do it.

But here was the thing.. In this moment of the documentary, they use a snippet of the Zapruder film in which the bottom of the trunk is missing, making the tree appear as if it’s floating. “He says, ‘This is the one that you’re seeing in the media and it’s been doctored.’ He looked very, very intently at me and he said, ‘Nothing is as it appears to be.’ That tape was the last thing he did before I left,” states Seymour.

    image

Here is the problem for many who watched: They did not see a scene of Zapruder in which there was a floating tree…

    So what gives?

We can collectively travel to REDDIT to see what the masses are saying about their experiences watching this..

There have been countless conspiracies about the Kennedy assassination in Dallas, even the limo driver did it theory. But the floating tree, to our knowledge, has not come up as a potential conspiracy theory at all since 1963..

This is a first–but again, is there even a floating tree. You can search up videos of the Zapruder film on Youtube, or just watch the movie JFK Where Oliver Stone has Kevin Costner say ‘back and to the left’ on repeat like a broken record. But either way, the challenge is there: Find the floating tree. We can’t.

It also seems unfair to let the ‘limo driver did it’ theory out there without addressing it cohesively. The idea that William Greer did it seems more than far fetched.

Now, there was plenty of concern and anger over Greer on that day, and he eventually apologized to Jackie Kennedy.

    image

There was a public record of Greer being interviewed in 1983 about the assassination. “I was in the front seat, I was driving him when he was shot,” former Secret Service Agent Bill Greer told WBTV in 1983.

“I looked over my shoulder and saw the blood coming down Governor Connaly’s white shirt and I knew it was trouble,” said Greer. “Kellerman yelled out we’ve been hit.” Roy Kellerman was the other secret service agent who was in the front seat of the Kennedy car that day.

“I watched them massage his heart and I thought I saw movement, but there was no doubt he was dead,” he recalled. “It didn’t take long for the significance of what happened to sink in. It shook me up quite a bit.”

Greer retired from the Secret Service just a few years after the assassination and moved to Waynesville, North Carolina. He had nightmares for a while and always thought about why it all happened.

“I think that’s what gave me ulcers,” he said in 1983.

But did he ‘do it.’ Probably not, folks.

You can find tons of websites about the JFK topic, but here is one where they try to track all of the potential whodunits.

But they point out that Greer’s hands are on the steering wheel securely seconds before shots rang out.

So .. anything is surely possible. In this world, it seems like the impossible is possible more often than not. However discernment is also necessary when contemplating things of this nature.

So floating trees and limo drivers doing it just seem difficult to conjure up.

However, what so many fail to mention or remember, number 5 from the Umbrella Academy was certainly behind the fence that same day fighting with his adult self over the briefcase to bring time back, or forward, in time with Luther. …Ah ha, maybe THAT is why the tree temporarily floated. That’t it!

At one time, the entire web was the dark web

This meme is true–those who grew up in the 1990s will recall Rotten.com .. the website grew in popularity fast back when the entire web was the dark web–and on the heels of the Faces of Death video that kids in the 80s that was real (well that one bit in the movie was..)

While you may not have surveyed the content on a regular basis on Rotten back in the day, it was one of the most popular ‘underground’ sites of the early internet.. One video that sticks out was the Bud Dwyer suicide video–he was a legislator from Pennsylvania and while under investigation, called a news conference in which he shot himself at the end. On live TV.

While the content of Rotten was, well, rotten, there was something to be said for early pioneers online who did not allow a regulated internet to stop their creative HTMLing..

For better or worse, the TMNT meme of people gathering around an old computer to see Rotten.com was just about true…

All in all, it was a crude and gross site. But at that time, things like this happened. It is tough to explain that to the current internet crowd that is cloaked in social media terms of services..

Skeletons of 1918 flu victims reveal clues about who may have died

A new paper published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences. Using evidence from the skeletons of those who died in the 1918 outbreak, researchers reported that people with chronic diseases or malnutrition, regardless of their age, were twice as likely to die as those without such conditions.

The 1918 virus killed the young, but it was no exception to the observation that infectious diseases kill the weak and sick most easily.

Sharon DeVitte, an anthropologist at the University of Colorado, Boulder and author of the paper, said the finding had a clear message: “We should never expect any accidental cause of death to be blind.”

Analysis of the skeletons was conducted by University of Michigan flu epidemic historian J. Alex Navarro makes “a fascinating article and a very interesting approach to studying this issue.”

Justice Gorsuch: COVID emergency orders were among `greatest intrusions on civil liberties’

This is how the Associated Press summed up the Justice’s opinion on COVID and our recent history:

The Supreme Court got rid of a pandemic-related immigration case with a single sentence.

Justice Neil Gorsuch had a lot more to say, leveling harsh criticism of how governments, from small towns to the nation’s capital, responded to the gravest public health threat in a century.

The justice, a 55-year-old conservative who was President Donald Trump’s first Supreme Court nominee, called emergency measures taken during the COVID-19 crisis that killed more than 1 million Americans perhaps “the greatest intrusions on civil liberties in the peacetime history of this country.”

He pointed to orders closing schools, restricting church services, mandating vaccines and prohibiting evictions. His broadside was aimed at local, state and federal officials — even his colleagues.

  • The Waco Documentary

    The Waco Documentary

It is finally here–we have long been anticipating the new the Netflix documentary about WACO..

It is largely unbelievable that it has been so long.. and unbelievable that it took this long for a reputable documentary about the siege and subsequent hostage situation that ended in fiery death..

There have been so many cults .. so many anti government organizations that popped up in the late 80s and early 90s.. and David Koresh was the most famous of them all through the middle part of the decade. .

While we continue to finish up the series, there was one thing that we recalled as we began re-researching the old events again: Just how awful the graphical illustration of the event was on on major newsmagazines at the time.

    Like.. the worst photoshop EVER..
