NASA says a mysterious object that light up the night sky in the southeast was space debris re-entering the earth’s atmosphere

“something with bright colors with a long following of bright colors went through the sky. It was amazing.”

NASA says the debris was traveling around 14,500 miles per hour and was tracked by five NASA cameras in the southeast.

The Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville is part of NASA’s fireball camera network and monitors the sky on clear nights for events like this.

After a meteor shot through the sky in 2014, they say it happens regularly.

Regularly.
Especially lately.
The pink stars are falling..

So now we know: Healthy eating does not equal weight loss, or health..

A study may rock your weight loss world: That was the basic finding of a recent study published in the Journal of Marketing Research. The analysis found that people who were chronically concerned about their weight and ate fitness-branded foods actually ended up eating more and working out less…

Some have alleged that this study us a conspiracy–that food companies shoveling chemicals on us wants us to keep our mouths open for more.. But others have acknowledged it’s perhaps now how you eat, but what you eat.. and how much of what you eat. Coupled with an active lifestyle. And genes.

It’s not simple.
But what is acknowledged: People who eat too much, regardless of food, don’t get thin:

The study authors gave over 150 weight-conscious men and women a bag of trail mix. Half of the snacks were labeled with the word “Fitness” and displayed an image of a running shoe; the other half were simply labeled “Trail Mix.” The participants were given eight minutes to snack at their leisure. In another phase of the study, they were given the option to exercise on a stationary bike as vigorously as they liked after eating the snack.

The results showed that people given the “Fitness” branded trail mix ate on average 59 more calories and exercised less intensely, burning 11 calories fewer than those snacking on the plainly-marked packages.

“In part it comes down to what we call the ‘health halo,’ where we tend to over-indulge and take in more calories if we feel the snacks are healthy,” Phillips said. “But to me it also kind of exposed this insidious way that labeling gives people who are trying to lose weight a false sense of security.”

GREECE IS THE WORD

The IMF wants its money. ATMs in Greece are running dry.. this could be the week of a national default.. The world is watching.

And Reuters is reporting this in its Sunday dispatch from the nation…

George Georgiopoulos and Lefteris Papadimas write:

More than a third of automated teller machines across Greece ran out of cash on Saturday before they were replenished as Greeks pulled out money on fears their country was set to crash out of the euro, three banking sources said.

Anxious Greeks lined up outside ATMs after Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras made a surprise call for a referendum on austerity terms demanded by lenders, throwing talks with lenders in disarray and putting Greece on the verge of a default.

About 35 percent of the ATM network – some 2,000 out of the 5,500 ATMs across Greece – ran out of euro banknotes at one point during the day and were being replenished, the bankers said. Banks were working in coordination with the central bank to keep the network fed with cash, they said.

Replenishing ATMs usually takes one to two hours per ATM, leading to the long lines, one banking source said.

The stage is set for a big fat Greek default next week.

History made. In living color. A White House pool report June 26, 2015, preserved for history:

As of 7:08 PM, the sunlight made it difficult make out the colors, but red, orange, yellow, green and violet were faintly visible

As night fell, the Friday night lights were very visible for the world to see.

About a year ago I wrote a critical post concerning UNCLE GRANDA (http://coalspeaker.com/post/63312159390/a-question-for-all-the-parents-out-there) .. I was also called to task on my statement. One reader wrote this at the time:

That show is great. Seriously. It is all about acceptance and just being yourself. Uncle Grandpa is there when you’re down and reminds you everything is going to be alright. It’s a good stupid show with a serious message.

Another wrote,

it has really solid messages about confidence and body positivity. have you even watched it?

And finally, people began sending me messages calling me out on my initial criticism..

I gave in at the time. I announced I’d watch Uncle Grandpa. Or at least try..

And now these days, almost two years later, my son is watching UNCLE GRANDPA. And laughing, loving it. He doesn’t quite get everything.. but who would completely comprehend a giant realistic flying tiger that shoots rainbows from its rear?

However… I admit it. I say it now, for the record: I have come to not only enjoy UNCLE GRANDPA, but I laugh out loud at parts and also see the deeper lessons in play.

I admit when I make mistakes. I misjudged the gramps without watching the show .. I have now accepted it.

And I am thankful that the KID WHO’S FOUR, CAILLOU, is a long distant memory of my son Ayden..

This is a screen grab from Caleb Wilde’s Faecbook page. I have followed him for some time, I respect him, and I appreciate his blog (although he normally gets a ton of pushback for speaking about death from the perspective of a mortician from Philly) .. Nonetheless, his point on Joel Osteen is taken. The article linked is written by Lynda Fell. It was published in THE BLAZE a few days ago. Fell’s point and criticism of Osteen revolves his belief that you need to ‘get go of grief’ within only a few months of the reason for grieving occurs. She writes,

Shame on you, Pastor Osteen, for lecturing us to shake off the self-pity, change the channel, and dwell on the good things God has done in our life. To ignore the suffering victim who suddenly had his right arm severed would be cruel. To instruct him to look past the agony and instead focus on his remaining left arm is devastatingly ignorant.

I do have empathy for your shortcoming on this issue, for you haven’t lost a child. But let me help you understand why your depiction of Phil and Judy to make a point about self-pity is not only incredibly insensitive but, truth be told, a bit tragic coming from an esteemed person like yourself.

Wilde believes that we should stay away from Osteen.

I have long believed that.. When I see his smarmy mug on my Sunday morning TV, I became slightly enraged for no real reason. I don’t leave the giant sports stadium-filled church service on long enough to get a point. I don’t want his point..

He may be a perfectly fine man.
But I have decided to remain Osteen-free in my life.
