Annabelle just came to Gettysburg. Good thing nothing bad happened in pennsylvania today

Annabelle,” the infamous, supposedly haunted doll housed in the Warren’s Occult Museum in Connecticut, will be coming to the Soldiers Orphanage Homestead from July 11-13 as part of the “Devils on the Run Tour.”

“Gettysburg, already known for its historical significance and paranormal energy, will be graced by Annabelle’s presence at the ‘Haunted Orphanage,’” TCD Paracon and Entertainment wrote in the event’s description. “This location is already rife with eerie tales and supernatural activity. The Haunted Orphanage, with its tragic past, is a place where the paranormal seems to thrive. Annabelle’s visit to this location is sure to create a unique experience for those brave enough to join in this stop along the ‘Devils on the Run’ tour.”

Okay hold up—Annabelle’s in Gettysburg, the 911 system is down statewide, and we’re just supposed to go about our day like it’s not the opening scene of a horror movie?

Look, officially and logically: yes, these things are unrelated. Tech glitches happen. Firewalls can misbehave. And haunted dolls do tour the country for museum exhibitions or PR stunts.

This Tiktok video actually shows people in Pennsylvania getting the statewide alert when they were actually going to see Annabelle.

    But.
This is Pennsylvania. This is Gettysburg. A place already loaded with energy, tragedy, and spirits still on unpaid overtime. Add Annabelle to the mix and you’ve basically hit the paranormal lottery..

Is anything bad going to happen today?
    Probably not.
    Could this all be coincidence?
    Sure.
But if your dog starts barking at nothing, your TV turns on by maybe just, I don’t know, sage the place down like you mean it..

    You know, just in case…

  • The city of brotherly love becomes the city of utterly garbage

The city of brotherly love becomes the city of utterly garbage

Something strange is happening in Philadelphia right now—a real-life social experiment unfolding in real time, and it’s not one the city signed up for. The so-called “City of Brotherly Love” is quickly becoming the City of Utter Garbage.

Sanitation workers—members of District Council 33—have gone on strike. So have workers from the Water Department. Even 911 operators briefly joined the picket line before court orders forced some of them back to work. But the most visible—and pungent—impact is coming from the absence of sanitation services.

The union’s grievances are real: they say wages haven’t kept up with inflation, cost-of-living increases have been ignored, and the value of their essential work has gone long unrecognized. And now, Philadelphia is about to learn just how valuable these workers are.

    @fox29philadelphia

It’s been a little less than 24 hours since District Council 33, Philadelphia’s largest workers’ union, went on strike and dumpsters are already overflowing at designated trash drop-off sites.

    ♬ original sound – FOX 29 Philadelphia

Garbage is already piling up on street corners on day one of the strike. Giant dumpsters set up by the city—meant to act as temporary collection points—were filled by the end of the first day. Overflowing trash is now stacking beside them, baking in the 90-degree heat.

Mayor Cherelle Parker urged residents to drive their garbage to one of these dozens of authorized sites. But that suggestion is tone-deaf at best. Nearly 480,000 Philadelphians don’t own a vehicle. So unless you plan to walk your garbage in the summer heat through a city already buckling under stress, you’re out of luck.

    https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTjEBpmwX

What we’re witnessing isn’t just a labor dispute—it’s a test of urban resilience. How long can a modern American city function without basic sanitation? At what point does trash become not just an inconvenience but a public health crisis? And what happens to the social fabric when the very people who keep the system running say, “Enough”?

Meanwhile, Mayor Parker and other city officials have accused some individuals of deliberately opening fire hydrants to sabotage water pressure—another alarming sign of social tension in the midst of this strike.

One thing is clear: this is going to get worse before it gets better.

This happened before–July 1 1986.. about 40 years ago. That one lasted 20 days and was pretty rotten. 2025’s may not be better.

District Council 33 has reached its breaking point. The bigger question now is: How long until the entire city of Philadelphia does too? Until then, garbage will keep rising—along with the stakes.

There was an arson attack at the Pennsylvania governor’s mansion–While the governor was there sleeping with his family!

Unbelievable news is breaking out of the state Capitol in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania early this morning. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, an arsonist set fire to the Governor’s Residence — while the Governor and his family were inside.

At approximately 2:00 a.m., members of the Harrisburg Bureau of Fire responded to reports of a fire at the Governor’s Residence, located on North Front Street in the city of Harrisburg, Dauphin County.

Authorities have confirmed that this was not an accident. The Pennsylvania State Police have officially labeled the fire as an act of arson. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze, but not before it caused significant damage to a portion of the historic residence.

Fortunately, Governor Josh Shapiro and his family were in a different part of the mansion at the time of the fire. They were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported.

More details are expected to emerge throughout the day as investigators piece together how this brazen act was carried out — and by whom.

Police Identify “Box Demon” After Mysterious York County Appearance

Authorities have identified a masked individual calling themselves the “Box Demon” after they appeared on a doorstep in York County.

“The police have identified and spoken to the ‘Box Demon.’ There are no public safety concerns,” the Northern York County Regional Police stated.

That’s right—know your meme. The Box Demon has officially entered the scene.

We’ve seen Slender Man, Momo, and countless other viral figures, but this might be the first reported case of the Box Demon.

Honestly, it doesn’t seem all that safe for the Box Demon either—showing up at 4:22 a.m., leaving an empty box on someone’s porch, all while being recorded by a Ring cam. But that didn’t seem to stop them.

So, what’s the deal? A new Ring cam trend? A viral stunt in the making? A parent repurposing their kid’s kindergarten art project as a mask? There’s a lot to unpack here—except, ironically, the box itself, which was completely empty. And that might just be the strangest part of all.

    The year of the Swifties

The era of Taylor Swift hits Pennsylvania

Person of the year. Huge ticket seller. People dying with heat exhaustion just to see her. A wild 2023 for Tay Tay..

But Pennsylvania went one step further.. the state House in the Keystone State now officially declared it all the Era of Taylor Swift..

And even this vote was divisive and along party lines..

The resolution celebrates how Swift has ‘transcended the role of pop star,‘ and recognizes her achievements in 2023 – including being named TIME’s Person of the Year

Most Republicans voted against the honorary measure, as did a few Democrats, despite it being introduced by eight Pennsylvania progressives..

She is from Wyomissing, PA, in Berks County.

    image

    MORE..

Just before it passed, Speaker Rep. Joanna McClinton, a Democrat from Philadelphia, defiantly provided with her own rendition of the lyrics of Swift’s track ‘Shake It Off’ – telling those who planned to vote against: ‘Haters gonna hate, hate, hate, hate, hate.’

Rep. Stephanie Borowicz, a Republican, responded by questioning what the guidance, in reality, actually meant, before labeling it an empty gesture by the progressive left.

‘What a joke of the State House Assembly of Pennsylvania,’ Borowicz said of the proposal, which would go on to be barely passed after some back-and-forth.

‘This is the Democratic party though, idolizing Hollywood,’ the lawmaker continued. ‘Giving Taylor Swift an era while our veterans get a day.’

Rep. Russ Diamond, another Republican, was even more pointed with his remarks, reminding the more than 200 lawmakers how Swift broke up with her home state when she moved to Tennessee to pursue her singing career.

Thousands of minks released from Pennsylvania fur far

This is the same area where monkeys were freed during a truck crash a year ago.

This time dangerous minks are on the loose. Seven thousand to be exact…

    7,000…

“Just stay away. Don’t touch it, don’t try to trap it, and don’t try to catch it. They will bite you, and they can potentially hurt you. We want to make sure the public is safe.”
These mink could also pose a threat to other animals. The nearby Sunbury Animal Hospital talked about ways to keep your pets safe.
“Don’t let (pets) out unattended. Take your dogs out on a leash. Mink might not be big enough to go after a big dog, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get injured by one. I would suspect cats and kittens, kittens especially, could be at risk,” said Dr. Beverly
Any animals you keep outdoors could be at risk.
“People with koi ponds, with backyard poultry and rabbits outside should talk to the Game Commission or check the internet for ways to discourage the mink from getting into those areas.”

After large pool of human blood found in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, police and community seek answers

A 4-by-7-foot pool of blood was found in the parking lot exit of Silver Spring Courtyards retirement center Saturday morning around 7:15 a.m. Another pool of blood was only feet away in the grass. Police also located a pair of black Rayban prescription glasses near the area, a new piece of potential evidence.

“We have, at this time, been able to account for all the residents of the retirement center,” the chief added. “There was nobody found and there were no other signs other than the pair of glasses.”

The question remaining for neighbors: Is it a crime scene? Or the scene of a serious accident, in a typically safe neighborhood?

“I’ve felt nothing but safe here,” Kenes said, explaining his daily walks through his community.

Officials are trying to narrow down an 8-hour window, believing the incident happened between 11 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday.

  • The creepy last night of summer: Blame the winter of 1994 for the early start

The creepy last night of summer: Blame the winter of 1994 for the early start

Depending on your school district, this is it..

For us here in Northeastern PA, we are ready. School clothes purchased. Ayden is “eagerly” “anticipating”.. It all begins..

Buses are being primed and shined for another year. Educators are lamenting the speed at which these summer months vanish. Parents are erratically pondering where school shopping should occur.. Kids, oh the kids.. they are suffering the most.

Watching those last minutes of the calendar tick away.. While on TikTok.

    This is it, folks!

The final week of summer in most areas. School seemingly is beginning earlier than normal every year right?

There are old timers who often talk about their school days dazes.. when they went back AFTER Labor Day weekend!!

Now we have a bias on the Northeastern part of the United States. It may very well be different where you are.

We researched this and we found a number of previous news articles from decades past when school really did start after Labor Day.. It wasn’t until the late 90s that things changed–and it appears that the winter of 1994 can be blamed for all of it!

Back in that time frame, there were a LOT of school closings. The blizzard of 93 was one thing, but the winter of 1994 was cold. Snowy..Really really cold. Really really snowy with storm after storm after storm.

I recall it fondly, as Mr. Shappell in 7th grade Immaculate Heart became angered more and more each time another snow storm was predicted.. (winters after became largely warm for the final half of the 90s after the blizzard of 1996) ..

But that winter of 94 really messed with school planning.

An August 30th 1995 editorial in the Pottsville Republican seemed to suggest that the school calendars were completely torn to shreds by the previous winter. As a matter of fact, the fishwrapper reported that the summer of 1995 was hot (I remember this kindly sorta not really fondly.. grass was so dry it crunched like chips) .. The editorial penned, or at that time, typed:

“The pre-Labor Day start of classes is as result of the Winter of 1994, when a seemingly endless series of snow and ice storms wrecked school calendars and forces sessions to continue into late June.”

    And so it was written.

Harrisburg also had one of its snowiest winters of all time..

Once schools went pre-Labor Day one time, it seemed like it continued, earlier and earlier each year.

    IT WASN’T ALWAYS LIKE THIS

At one time in history, children did NOT have the summers off. Read that again. Yes. No summer vacation… no traveling. No Hershey Park. NO beach. No Mount Rushmore.

The public education system started in the 1800s..

Based on the location you lived in, calendars varied. In cities, schools were open all year–240 days!

In rural America, farming and the land forced schools to open for 5 months, or two sessions, in the winter and the summer.. In the fall, school closed so kids could help harvest.. Spring time they helped plant.

It was not until the early 20th century that urban and rural districts combined their efforts and created the 180-day school year. It started AFTER labor day and ended in June.

It continued that way for decades. By the 1990s, pre-Labor Day schooling began.. It has increased the ability to build in longer vacations for Christmas and Easter, but depending on snow days those days off start getting chipped away at during colder times.

I STILL BLAME THE WINTER OF 1994 FOR ALL OF IT

It seriously is when it all changed.

So let me take you back. . . I was in grade school.. and yes, like all dorky kids like me, watching winter patterns and watching Weather World on PBS at the time. Oh those fond memories of my strange childhood.

I was also loving Rooftop Weather on WYOU with Barry Finn while all the other adults were glued to Tom Clark.

Barry Finn was extraordinary that year, he was rare. He loved winter. He loved the snow. Other forecasters pooh-poohed it while Barry just shivered on the rooftop up at the Scranton studios giving Northeast PA their daily dose of scary blizzard forecast in 1994.

As a matter of fact, Barry Finn warned people in September of 1994–back when kids still started school after the Ashland ABA parade.

The TIMES LEADER wrote this on September 3, 1994:

Coat the East Coast in nasty ice storms.
“Oh, you don’t want to know,” said psychic Peg Verity Barber of
Wilkes-Barre. “It’s going to be a devastating winter, not snow as much as ice.
It’s because of global changes, and the tilting of the earth’s axis.”

    Wallop the region with snow.

“Meteorologically speaking, there’s no way to know,” said Barry Finn, chief
meteorologist at WYOU-TV in Scranton. “But I’m going out very soon to buy a
    snow blower.”

Vince Said it Would Be Like This Sweeney also got an honorable mention with this quote:

Weatherman Vince Sweeney of WBRE-TV dismisses the hoopla. “I’ll tell you
about this winter: it’s coming,” he said. “If you don’t like the weather,
    move.”

    So that is it..

A winter in memory to blame for what we have now? Sure some will surmise it has to do tiwh tourism, jobs.. whatever.

It has to do with weather. Weather changes us culturally and economically. And in 1994, it changed when children’s melodrama of nightmares would begin.

May God bless the students about to journey into a new school year.

And may God forever bless the soul of our dearly departed Barry Finn, who passed away in 2020..

Satan dies in York PA: Pennsylvania School Board kills Satanic Club–as parents neglect to realize that the Temple does not worship Satan

York Pennsylvania has made some news recently.. an after school “Satanic Club” was set to be introduced …

Until the Northern Elementary school board placed it into fiery damnation..

The Satanic club was shot down with an 8-1 vote. There are currently four similar clubs operating in U.S. schools across the country, with regular attempts to expand.

Samantha Groome, a parent in the district, was the advocate for introducing the club to the district.

“I never thought anything like this would come to the district… I don’t want my son to be exposed to anything of the sort,” parent Amy Wintermyer told local Fox 43.

The Satanic Temple which runs the program and said students would be offered activities such as science and crafts projects, puzzles and games — and that they would learn about benevolence, empathy, critical thinking, problem-solving and creative expression…

Hundreds of people showed up — many outraged over the thought of letting Satan into the Pennsylvania schools (see the final link on this page)

After this vote, there are threats of lawsuits..
