What can I say.. tropical systems in fall? Wind and rain? All that with leaves changing bright shades of yellow and red? I just love this time of year. I could do without the 80 degree days, of course–something very weird for this part of Northeastern Pennsylvania at this time of year. But I see an extended forecast of glory later this week, after the rainy weather today.. beauty will shine. And even if the weather is not ‘beautiful,’ that’s all in the eye of the beholder anyway.

Timing is everything–coincidences? Planned? …I don’t know. But the debt ceiling battle will come to a head on October 17–that’s the date the United States will default and will lose the ability to borrow, unless Congress increases the limit and passes a continuing resolution to fund government services. It’s also the date when 37 states will practice an end of the world (at least their world) scenario with the GREAT U.S. SHAKEOUT ..

More Americans are interested in football and Miley Cyrus than they are the government shutdown.. And that may continue until the SOCIAL SECURITY AND DISABILITY checks stop, as Jack Lew has hinted .. if that occurs, I expect search engine results to change rapidly.. What about you? A shutdown at that point would truly come in like a wrecking ball..

If you read the HORROR REPORT late last night, you may have caught the story last night about a bowl breaking in my house. My wife tells me I should really not write that late–maybe she’s right..it fraught with bad grammar and poorly constructed sentences. I am no Pulitzer Prize winning writer, mind you, but I am a little embarrassed when I publish such bad content. My apologies. That however does not discount the fact that, for no reason, three people heard a spoon clang against a bowl and all three of us watched the bowl break. The new word of the year: BARRYCADES.. those monuments of government shutdowns called barricades, changed a bit to fit the President’s order to close certain places. In the case of Mount Vernon, an order was given to shut it down. Funny enough, it’s PRIVATELY OWNED!

In many states, even if federal workers want to file for unemployment, to certify that they continue UC benefits, they will need to prove they are searching for another job–and if they are offered another job and don’t take it, they quite possibly will lose benefits..
