Saturday night’s not so main event

Ever since John B. Wells left his permanent slot as the Saturday host of Coast to Coast AM, Premiere Radio has given listeners a strange brew of random hosts. George Knapp and Dave Schrader have answered the call, but other amateurs have gone overboard as the tryouts continue to replace the highly rated Wells.

This weekend saw one such host, David Ruben, a self-proclaimed ‘dream expert’ and educator. He interviewed John Lear–a famed name from Coast to Coast annals and UFOlogy.

And then the train wreck commenced.

Ruben allowed Lear to take over the program. Lear randomly cited strange conspiracies, briefly talked about how 9/11 was a hoax and men are living on the moon. Lear claimed there were 40 planets in our solar system–a busy place–and even said Siegfried of Siegfried and Roy died, leading to the mauling of the ‘stand in’ playing Siegfried. Ruben was unable to reign in Lear as he rambled on throughout three hours of programming.

During the third hour, however, Ruben suffered what appeared to be an on-air breakdown.  Lear was describing his tale of seeing a UFO when Ruben said he had a flashback to his pre-teen childhood when he lived in Hawaii. Ruben said he saw a beam of light escaping the water. Lear told him that if he saw a UFO he was ‘on it,’ alleging that people who see UFOs only see them after they are abducted and experimented on.

The prospect forced Ruben into a strange diatribe.. He began breathing heavily as the panic ran through his body. Lear went on to hint that awful things may have been done to him, leaving Ruben completely in a new place. A strange place..

While Lear went back to his script, Ruben finally intervened–only to further insist he was in a panic and his perspective on life had just changed.

The fine users at the popular message board BELL GAB have done their due diligence by documenting the bizarre radio scene from Saturday night ..

And this is what Premiere Radio networks is putting out over 500+ stations? This is the show built from the ground up by Art Bell? And THIS is the type of person auditioning to replace a albeit politically controversial but highly rated John B. Wells?

I assume David Ruben may not be a host in the near future. He may, however, be abducted by aliens in the beams of light escaping the Hawaiian ocean.

As for Lear? ? He’ll be a guest again. Maybe again on the next April fools show.

Flooded egos on the Red Carpet

Hollywood is drenched.
For months, the nation watched California whither and dry during an extreme drought.
And now today, as Ellen gets set to open the Academy Awards, a huge storm is hitting the red carpet..

And Hollywood, ever the spiritually vacant town would do, is worried about fashion.. How will the drenching rain and wind affect fashion!?

But the show will go on!

Perhaps with moist dresses.. frazzled hair.. and soaked tuxedos.

While mudslides may flow, champagne will too.

Cocktails.
Caviar..
Drenching rain.
And fame.

Waterproofing the red carpet has never been harder..

The Sunday morning sidewalk

News and such from the world around..
All the horror that can be found..

Russia crisis.. President Obama called President Putin on the phone last night. But in the meantime, Obama skipped a National Security team meeting on the subject!
More on the Russian drama:
Ukraine mobilizes after Putin’s ‘declaration of war’..
Duma claims humanitarian purpose for Russian troops..
Republic of Crimea speaker says Ukraine needs to sort things and Crimea will take care of itself..
The Russians are coming! To Crimea..
East vs West brings thoughts that a new cold war is upon us.. The fear of course is how quickly it can go from cold to hot.

Sure, America worships celebrity.. but will we eat them? Serious.. A company named BiteLabs has a novel and disgusting idea: Growing meat from celebrity tissue samples. I suppose it’s the closest thing to cannibalism that can be sold legally. The product is salami. It will be 30% celebrity and 40% animal meat, the rest will be fats and spices. And you can enjoy a nice glass of Chianti with your cannibal celebrity sammich..

March is roaring in like a lion.. this is the current wintry state of affairs as watches and warnings for ice and snow are almost everywhere!

Updated numbers from China only get worse.. now 33 are confirmed dead in the multi-knife attack..

I have long thought Bitcoins were the next ponzi scheme.. beginning to confirm my thoughts: Half a billion in Bitcoins suddenly vanish..

More cowbell (And soot): Spain celebrates the devil in Luzon..

This is horrifying: There is an alarming rate of birth defects in Washington–the HORROR REPORT reported on this matter over a week ago. However, new information shows just how awful it is.. babies missing parts of their brains and skulls.. The cluster is around a polluted US nuclear site.. And no major media outlets brings that up.

Real zombie Apocalypse: An incurable flesh-eating disease spreads in the Philippines… Some believe that a prophecy was made about this, saying people will suffer it for not repenting.

Study sheds light no why boys have higher autism rates than girls..

This was an image taken tonight from a street corner near my home as I walked Mutley the dog.. The night was shrouded in fog.. I was completely unable to see mere feet in front of me.. There has always been something about certain weather elements that frighten me. Fog may top the list.. maybe it’s the movie THE FOG, maybe the abundance of fog in the paranormal.. Maybe it’s all those images drawn of the famed killer Jack the Ripper lurking in fog.. Tonight as I tried to quickly walk Mutley back the the house, there was a strange moon light above, causing the air around me to appear as if it was glowing a yellow orange hue.. It was amazing, but scary all the same. Every noise, every rustle of a leaf, and every tree moving in the distance, all sounded accentuated. It was as though something was creeping behind me for every step.. Safely at home, I now write this.. I am closing my curtains.. just in case I see a strange figure silhouetting under the fog drenched street light a stone’s throw away..

As predicted by the tin foil hat wearers a decade ago (Me included) Street lights are now going to be watching you

A jogger was ticketed for ‘running too early’ in Central Park!

In case you wanted to know, here are 17 things that would have classified you as a witch in then 1600s..  Judging from the list, we are surrounded by witches in 2014..

Justin Bieber, Instagram

Justin Bieber turns 20.  The other night, Letterman joked that the gift Bieber needs most for his 20th is a good attorney.

Love is at first sight.. but what about first listen? Men and women agree: Attraction to a ‘typical’ voice wins. Men like sexy, women like deep.  I think most agree: Smokers’ dinner waitress voices are the worst.

The bizarre real life “Barbie” makes more noise.. she wants to have no IQ and now wants to just subsist on air and light alone.

How to live longer (and better): IN photos..

elisa lam movie

More on the tragic death of Elisa Lam: is going to get a horror movie treatment. I have already written how I don’t appreciate turning truth info flagrant profit.. But SONY is going to do just that. I am sure her family is ecstatic hearing this news. We know this so far: The movie will be called THE BRINGING..

‘WE ARE WHAT WE ARE’ horror movie getting praise in the UK..

Horror in China as over 100 stabbed in mass knife incident

We know this: At least 28 killed and 113 injured when knife-wielding men stormed Kunming Railway Station in southwest Yunnan province.

More information according to reports: During the mass stabbing attack, there were several men wearing all black who rushed the train station and began to reportedly stab anyone they saw..

There are images circulating online which purport to show mangled and stabbed body laying dead on the ground in the station.. I am choosing not to publish these for two reasons, number one being that they could be fake and number two being that they are extremely tacky and personal to show the mangled corpses left at bioterror attack. Other websites are showing gruesome imagery..

More reports indicate that some of the men were shot dead by police, the others are still being tracked down.

This is one of the deadliest my contacts in China in the last several years.

At this point no motive has been translated to authorities but there is a horrific and gruesome scene playing out in real time.

The mad scientist: Random words, gibberish, and fake

If you ever read a science journal and scratched your head in confusion, you’re not alone.

You’re left wondering.. what did I just read?

Am I completely stupid for not understanding a single sentence?

Such big words may have confused you but the structure of the sentence may have led to even more exacerbation of the brain.

And today we learn this: 120 papers published in science journals over the past several years have been called out.

They are frauds. Not real.

FOXNEWS reports this,

Some 120 papers published in established scientific journals over the last few years have been found to be frauds, created by nothing more than an automated word generator that puts random, fancy-sounding words together in plausible sentence structures. As a result they have been pulled from the journals that originally published them.

The fake papers are in the fields of computer science and math and have titles such as “Application and Research of Smalltalk Harnessing Based on Game-Theoretic Symmetries”; “An Evaluation of E-Business with Fin”; and “Simulating Flip-Flop Gates Using Peer-to-Peer Methodologies.” The authors of those papers did not respond to requests for comment from FoxNews.com.

This would seem to be a pretty big deal in the science world.
Undoubtedly, these journals were quoted and reported on, heralded and debated. And they weren’t even real ..

The scale of the problem appears to be enormous in the scientific community. SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN wrote a section in their summary on how to create a nonsense paper.

I often wonder if these reports on the news of the ‘new survey’ or study contemplating some sort of thing is real to begin with.

We know that 120 papers published in real journals weren’t real.. And that is a big deal.

I opened up my eyes and saw the sign

I was outside Thursday night when I saw two simultaneous bright lights in the sky above me.. They were long lasting and not typical ‘shooting stars’ as I have come to know them.

I saw the fireballs that are being reported..  One report in the story has a witness saying it was the brightest shooting star they ever saw and it looked like it was dropping vertical. I agree with that report and is similar to what I saw …
2013 was the year of the fireball.
In 2014 the pink stars are falling…
I am going to begin working on my meteor report now to the American Meteor Society. If you saw one too, you should do the same.

Conflicting Saturday: I’ll take Crimean Tatars with my Ukraine Crisis

10:00 AM UPDATE: VLADIMIR PUTIN RECEIVES APPROVAL FROM PARLIAMENT TO USE RUSSIAN TROOPS IN UKRAINE…

Original update: There are multiple weather models showing the storm this weekend moving north.. and south.. and no where.. and here. And there. My area is bracing for 1 to 25 inches of snow. That’s an old joke, of course, but this go around it’s actually quite accurate. The weatherman knows a storm is brewing–they are getting better at timing–but they sure aren’t sure yet as to what path it takes…

The sun shines.. but so many nations see war planes on bright and blue days. I worry about war today.. This world has seen way too much of it in modern life. But so much more seems to be coming..

Some Saturday morning news to use or lose this bright and shiny sunny morning:

The world is watching–and some are holding collective breath–as Russia and Crimea continue to embroil themselves in an inevitable war.. A few days ago, the BBC ran a good article explaining what was so dangerous about the situation in Crimea..

The other facts as they are known at this hour. It may change by next hour:

Russia extends its reach in Crimea with calls for troops in Ukrainian region..

President Obama is warning Vladimir Putin that there will be ‘costs’ for Ukraine action..

But… Putin is holding the cards and dictating the timetable..

This is the dogs of war floating at sea.. WE should all be watching these provocations closely: Russia is seeking access in eight countries for its ships and bombers.  There is already a mysterious ‘spy ship’ docked in Havana..  But now they also want to be set to fire in Cuba, Venezuela, Singapore.. and more..

As expected.. the United States is scrambling for intelligence on the developing crisis..

Some history: Crimea was a gift to Ukraine. It happened in 1954 and, in between Nikita Khruschchev famous using his shoes as weapons during speeches, he gifted the beautiful Crimea to Ukraine.. that was back in happier days when mother Russia claimed Ukraine for the Soviets..

The Budapest Memorandum was signed in 1991 by Bill Clinton, John Major, Boris Yeltsin and Leonid Kuchma - the then-rulers of the USA, UK, Russia and Ukraine. It promises to protect Ukraine's borders, in return for Ukraine giving up its nuclear weapons
There are also some other reports worth contemplating. Back in 1994, President Bill Clinton, John Major, Boris Yelstin, and Leonid Kuchma signed a treaty. That treaty, now it’s said, may actual embroil the United States and Britain into a war with Russia if Russia invades Ukraine!! The agreement signed back in the roaring 90s had world leaders vowing to protect Ukraine’s border. Things were happier then.

And lest we forget… a month ago media outlets quietly reported that Iran was sending warships close to the United States East Coast border..

So you see how this could could quickly get out of hand, right?
Just as the Archduke Franz Ferdinand..

The Phantom Noise in your head and in your reality

A few months ago I was walking Mutley the dog .. it was a bright December morning, before all of these snowstorms of the winter time struck. We were in the middle no where–on a long path on a mountain. Suddenly, out of no where, I heard a loud shot gun like noise.. It sounded like it was right next to my head. The odd part of the circumstance was the fact that my dog–who barks at pins dropping–didn’t flinch an eye. Instead he acted as though he did not hear anything at all..
I spoke to a few people about this. I did not know if it even happened. Was I imagining the noise? Did it happen miles away but travel in an echo right to me? Was it a blowing transformer? A loud boom from the planet earth–the kind Linda Howe talks about on Coast to Coast AM? All of these thoughts immediately went through my mind. But I kept watching my dog, who obviously didn’t wonder the same things I did.
A sudden crisis involving my father’s health happened a day or two later and I was left  think about nothing but that.. The gun noise left my mind.
Until today.
I was working at my computer early this morning with an amazing cup of french vanilla coffee.. My wife had gone to work and my son was at day care. Mutley the dog was soundly sleeping next to me on a chair.
I heard a sudden noise in my right ear.. It sounded like a shotgun cocking right next to my head. I froze up and wondered, quickly, what the sound was and where it was coming from. I expected to hear a gun blast within seconds.
And then, a distance away, I heard a gun shot. One single shot gun blast. It came from the same direction, behind my house, on that same path going up the mountain.
This time my dog heard it.
But he did not hear the clicking sound prior …
There could be all sorts of explanations. First off, the click itself may not have even happened. My mind may have heard the gun shot and convinced itself to think it heard a click .. after all, we are talking just seconds. But no.. I remember hearing that click. I am actually quite confident I did.
So the next possibility is that I had a premonition, only seconds before the gunshot, that a gun shot would take place. I certainly don’t have a clue who fired the gun or where it happened it.. so I have no clue why I would have any actual purpose for having a premonition..
And maybe, as the NEW YORK TIMES reported back in 2001, it could have been a phantom noise in my head.. Back then, the TIMES reported that 50% of Americans hear phantom noises at some point.
But a phantom noise preceding the firing of a gun–and a noise that would typically coincide with that act?  Well I just find that odd..
This time the fact Mutley the dog heard the gun shot gives me more confidence that at least THAT NOISE was real.
Back at the end of 2013, when I spoke to a few people about the initial gun noise I heard, someone gave me a weird thought as to where the noise came from: They said it could have be me, in an alternate reality, committing some act of suicide at that same location. That or perhaps it was me hearing the shooting of someone else.. Or the suicide of someone else.
All crazy talk, of course..
Until you study the deep lessons of newfound physics with the prospect that multiple universes exist. And in DONNIE DARKO world, they crash into each other. Maybe in real life they do, too.
The weird part was today, when I heard the actual gun noise, the first thing I thought was that I was hearing an old battle from the Civil War ..
I went outside with my dog today after I heard the shot, and took a brief walk up to the beginning of the path up the mountain. Like December, it was a completely clear sky and a cold morning. I heard no wind.. no rustling of leaves.. no crunch of feet walking on snow. Nothing.  A phantom noise.
One that was heard by more than just me this time.
I don’t know if my tale is one of a paranormal lure or just a complete bore. Maybe someone just fired a shot at a squirrel.. or bird.. Or whatever. Or it was a car back firing.. Or a transformer. Or an earth gurgle like Linda Moulton Howe talked about last night on Coast to Coast AM.
But I heard the click in my right ear immediately before the gun shot.
I cannot get that noise out of my head..
