  • The ‘directed energy weapon’ in Hawaii could have been energized power lines that were not turned off despite warnings of hurricane winds

The ‘directed energy weapon’ in Hawaii could have been energized power lines that were not turned off despite warnings of hurricane winds

The Washington POST and other mainstream sources are beginning to report on what really caused the Hawaii fires–the hurricane force winds were a factor.

Some online speculated that a weaponized beam did it, the reality seems to be more on the mundane side. However one that could lead to some tremendous legal issues or power companies.. (Snopes among those de-energizing speculation about a directed energy weapons)

At 10:47 p.m. last Monday, a security camera at the Maui Bird Conservation Center captured a bright flash in the woods, illuminating the trees swaying in the wind. “I think that is when a tree is falling on a power line,” says Jennifer Pribble, a senior research coordinator at the center, in a video posted on Instagram.

    More from the POST’s reporting:

“The power goes out, our generator kicks in, the camera comes back online, and then the forest is on fire.”

At that exact moment, 10 sensors in Makawao, a small, rural town in the East Maui region of Upcountry — where the Conservation Center is located — recorded a significant incident in Hawaiian Electric’s grid, according to data from Whisker Labs, a company that uses an advanced sensor network to monitor grids across the United States. The bright light in the video was probably an “arc flash,” something that happens when a power line “faults” — meaning it has come in contact with vegetation or another line, or gets knocked down, releasing power, usually through sparks, according to a Whisker Labs official and other experts.

“This is strong confirmation — based on real data — that utility grid faults were likely the ignition source for multiple wildfires on Maui,” said Bob Marshall, the founder and CEO of Whisker Labs, which has 78 sensors across Maui, part of a robust network of hundreds of thousands monitoring grids across the United States.

In the days leading up the predicted hurricane winds, Hawaiian Electric did not cut power as a precaution.

As the days continue, and even President Joe Biden has yet to issue a statement of any kind, people in Hawaii are becoming enraged at the response and often lack thereof..

  • The seismic blast heard around the world

The seismic blast heard around the world

Weatherboy Weather has compiled a list of remarkable and almost unbelievable facts about todays volcanic eruption near Tonga…

    From the site:

-the extreme explosive volcanic eruption event was so large and so loud that it was heard in parts of Alaska!

-the blast was so huge it sent a pressure wave around much of the world; it was measured throughout the U.S. East Coast

-the pressure wave appears to be driving the tsunami activity; as the pressure wave crossed into the Caribbean, it created a meteotsunami in parts of the Caribbean including around Puerto Rico

-the blast was detected by sensors at the La Palma volcano in the Canary Islands, north & west off the coast of Africa

-Professor Shane Cronin at the School of Environment at the University of Auckland suggests that eruptive activity at Tonga could continue for weeks or months. According to an assessment of historical eruptions there, these kind of events could be relatively long lasting and not one-off events. As such, there could be a chronic tsunami threat around the globe should eruptions equal to the overnight one continue in the weeks/months ahead.

-satellite data confirms the explosive blast from the volcano entered the stratosphere which will likely impact global weather and climate, although how much remains unknown. Analysis is also ongoing to determine whether or not the mesosphere was pierced by the massive explosion too.

    THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY…

A tsunami has hit Tonga’s largest island, Tongatapu.. It reportedly sent waves flooding into the capital after an underwater volcano in the South Pacific exploded in a violent eruption on Saturday, sending a cloud of ash and gas steam into the air.

Satellite imagery shows a massive ash cloud and shockwaves spreading from the eruption.Waves crossed the shoreline of Tonga’s capital, Nuku’alofa, on Saturday, flowing onto coastal roads and flooding properties, according to CNN affiliate Radio New Zealand (RNZ).

A tsunami warning has been issued for the islands of Tonga. Tsunami advisories have also been issued as far away as New Zealand’s North Island.

It triggered marine warnings for Australia’s east coast and land warnings for Norfolk Island and Lord Howe Island.

  • BALLS OF LIGHT IN 1871 NEWSPAPERS: What caused the worst wildfire in American history?

BALLS OF LIGHT IN 1871 NEWSPAPERS: What caused the worst wildfire in American history?

Today is the anniversary of the worst wildfire in American history, the Peshtigo Fire of 1871.

Over a million acres burned in eastern Wisconsin and Michigan’s upper peninsula, and it turned into a firestorm that left between 1,500 and 2,500 people dead.

Whole families were killed, and the lack of survivors made an accurate count difficult.

Peshtigo is overshadowed by the Great Chicago Fire that happened at the same time, and there have been attempts to link them together, and blame a meteorite.

The Area Research Center, the state historical society’s depository for records for 11 counties in Northeast Wisconsin, has papers and manuscripts of all kinds, she said.

The story of the Peshtigo Fire, gleaned from survivor accounts and conjecture, is that railroad workers clearing land for tracks that Sunday evening started a brush fire which, somehow, became an inferno.

It had been an unusually dry summer, and the fire moved fast. Some survivors said it moved so fast it was “like a tornado.”

    Map of fire

Even more… The sudden, convulsive speed of the flames consumed available oxygen. Some trying to flee burst into flames.

It scorched 1.2 to 1.5 million acres, although it skipped over the waters of Green Bay to burn parts of Door and Kewaunee counties. The damage estimate was at $169 million, about the same as for the Chicago Fire.

The fire also burned 16 other towns, but the damage in Peshtigo was the worst. The city was gone in an hour. In Peshtigo alone, 800 lives were lost.

This report was in the Wisconsin State Journal on October 23, 1871–dispatches took longer then obviously:

This report that was circulated around the national newspaper scene on October 25, 1871, spoke of “balls of fire” being observed to fall like meteors in different parts of the town before the fire… It was said they ignited anything they came in contact with:

While it is categorized as fringe and conspiracy, the Comet Biela broke up just before these tragic events.. could that have been the catalyst? That theory continues to captivate and cause questions..

But maybe it is just explained by … mundane nature..

The area had experienced an extremely dry summer that year. This, combined with gusty winds that moved in with a front that October evening, were capable of generating rapidly expanding blazes from available ignition sources of which there were plenty across the region.

    Or a comet..

    You choose.

The balls of light were reported in newspapers in 1871. Did fake news exist then?

THE LAND OF OZ HAS STRANGE SHAKING GOING ON

Right now Australia is embroiled in political protests over COVID lockdowns (the government there is actually barring media outlets from filming the crowd from helicopters!)

The governmenwt has suspended all construction for 2 weeks.. that will cause some issues now that more than a few places have been dealt damage from really puzzling earthquakes that just should seem to be occurring where they are…

An unusually strong earthquake struck in an unusual portion of Australia (9:15 am September 21, local time), puzzling experts with its intensity and location.

Registering a magnitude 6.0, the earthquake outside of Melbourne is the largest onshore earthquake in Victoria in recorded history.

There have been numerous aftershocks, including a a 4.7 that occurred about 15 minutes after the main shock. Melbourne is the second largest city in Australia, with a population of roughly 5 million people.
