    🌋 Klyuchevskoy Volcano… Now It’s Your Turn.

After last night’s Earth-shaking 8.8 magnitude quake — a monster that rattled the Ring of Fire and triggered a tsunami across the Pacific — the planet isn’t done yet.

Now, Klyuchevskoy — the largest active volcano in the Northern Hemisphere — has erupted.

According to the Russian Academy of Sciences’ United Geophysical Service:

    > “A descent of burning hot lava is observed on the western slope. Powerful glow above the volcano. Explosions.”

    The Earth isn’t just restless.
    It’s moving.

    Iceland volcano erupts, prompting evacuation

Iceland’s world-famous Blue Lagoon and the nearby town of Grindavik are under evacuation following a volcanic eruption in the country’s Reykjanes Peninsula, Iceland’s public broadcaster RÚV reported Saturday.

Lava appeared to be flowing rapidly towards north of Grindavík, just as it did during the eruption on February 8, RÚV said citing the Icelandic Met Office..

  • The seismic blast heard around the world

The seismic blast heard around the world

Weatherboy Weather has compiled a list of remarkable and almost unbelievable facts about todays volcanic eruption near Tonga…

    From the site:

-the extreme explosive volcanic eruption event was so large and so loud that it was heard in parts of Alaska!

-the blast was so huge it sent a pressure wave around much of the world; it was measured throughout the U.S. East Coast

-the pressure wave appears to be driving the tsunami activity; as the pressure wave crossed into the Caribbean, it created a meteotsunami in parts of the Caribbean including around Puerto Rico

-the blast was detected by sensors at the La Palma volcano in the Canary Islands, north & west off the coast of Africa

-Professor Shane Cronin at the School of Environment at the University of Auckland suggests that eruptive activity at Tonga could continue for weeks or months. According to an assessment of historical eruptions there, these kind of events could be relatively long lasting and not one-off events. As such, there could be a chronic tsunami threat around the globe should eruptions equal to the overnight one continue in the weeks/months ahead.

-satellite data confirms the explosive blast from the volcano entered the stratosphere which will likely impact global weather and climate, although how much remains unknown. Analysis is also ongoing to determine whether or not the mesosphere was pierced by the massive explosion too.

Tsunami hit South Pacific island of Tonga following underwater volcanic eruption

    THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY…

A tsunami has hit Tonga’s largest island, Tongatapu.. It reportedly sent waves flooding into the capital after an underwater volcano in the South Pacific exploded in a violent eruption on Saturday, sending a cloud of ash and gas steam into the air.

Satellite imagery shows a massive ash cloud and shockwaves spreading from the eruption.Waves crossed the shoreline of Tonga’s capital, Nuku’alofa, on Saturday, flowing onto coastal roads and flooding properties, according to CNN affiliate Radio New Zealand (RNZ).

A tsunami warning has been issued for the islands of Tonga. Tsunami advisories have also been issued as far away as New Zealand’s North Island.

It triggered marine warnings for Australia’s east coast and land warnings for Norfolk Island and Lord Howe Island.

The Bureau of Meteorology said the Hunga Tonga-Hung Ha’apai volcano erupted at 3.10pm AEDT Saturday and sea level observations confirmed a tsunami had been generated….

The latest from the Hawaii volcano scene according to REUTERS:

A stream of lava as wide as three football fields flowed over a highway near a junction at Kapoho, a seaside community of rebuilt after a destructive eruption of Kilauea in 1960.

The lava flow left Kapoho and the adjacent development of Vacationland cut off from the rest of the island by road, according to the Hawaii County Civil Defense agency.

Also, lava destroyed a freshwater lake, boiling away all of the water in it, the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory reported late Saturday, local time.

Toxic sulfur dioxide gas emissions have created an additional hazard. So too have airborne volcanic glass fibers, called “Pele’s hair,” wispy strands produced by lava fountains and carried aloft by the wind.
One resident, Nancy Avery, said the glass strands hurt like paper cuts, slicing into her fingers and feet, toes exposed because she wore only sandals. She tried to pick up a strand but, “It just kind of melted into my skin and cut me. It’s so sharp, it feels like the glass is still in there.”

There is more information of strikingly nature coming from the state: A drone footage captured the volcano from the sky — but also revealed some very strange cracks as the vent is expecting with the crater floor collapse.. The area of the collapse is now more than half the original area of the original crater……

THE WORLD IS ACTIVE.. REUTERS REPORTING THIS:

At least six people were killed and another 20 injured on Sunday when Guatemala’s Fuego volcano erupted violently, spewing a stream of red hot lava and belching a thick plume of black smoke and ash that rained onto the capital and other regions.
“It’s a river of lava that overflowed its banks and affected the Rodeo village. There are injured, burned and dead people,” Sergio Cabanas, the general secretary of Guatemala’s Conred disaster agency, said on radio.
“We are evacuating and rescuing people and have reports of 20 wounded, six dead and disappeared,” said Cabanas.

The latest numbers after this initial report now indicate 7 dead..300 injured.. the numbers will rise..

    Fuego erupts

The volcano, about 25 miles south-west of the capital Guatemala City, has been spewing black smoke and ash into the sky.

A total of about a million people have been affected by the eruption, the Guatemalan government says.

Officials have advised citizens to wear masks due to falling ash, which has been raining down in four of Guatemala’s administrative regions.

  • The dire ring of fire

    The dire ring of fire

A fearful headline is gracing my computer screen this Sunday morning.. It was filed a few days back, but its importance has not diminished with days.

Notice all of those stories about volcanoes lately?
The Pacific Ring of fire especially? People leaving their homes, forced out from the land… escaping the fire and gas being thrust into the atmosphere on a regular basis now.

But get this: During the last 10 days close to 40 volcanoes worldwide have been showing signs of activity and great deal of them, 34, are located along the very active Ring Fire.

And even more, the increasing volcanic activity around the the Ring of Fire is not new, the region is home to 452 volcanoes, 75% of all earth’s, and geologists have been warning that this 25,000 mile stretch of active and dormant volcanoes is becoming more unstable in recent year!
