  • Drink before the war

    Drink before the war

Interesting night. I guess we don’t have much longer until World War 3 begins. Some news stations have picked up the story of a new Indian astrologer, who’s being called a modern Nostradamus.

He apparently predicts that World War 3 will begin tomorrow.

Just when you get ready to laugh that off, you see a headline that Russian President Vladimir Putin is visiting North Korea tomorrow.

This visit is causing quite a stir in the international community. North Korea, known for its secretive regime and nuclear ambitions, has long been a point of contention in global politics. Russia’s relationship with North Korea has always been complex, marked by strategic alliances and mutual interests. The timing of Putin’s visit, coinciding with the astrologer’s dire prediction, adds an eerie twist to the unfolding events. Many experts are speculating about the implications of this meeting, considering the already heightened tensions on the global stage.

The Bidens really keeping the creepy in Christmas

    image

First Lady Jill Biden’s efforts at spreading some Christmas joy have been met with derision and astonishment from many who have labeled her celebratory video as ‘bizarre’ ‘freaky’ and ‘absolute garbage.’

The video, posted by Dr. Biden on Wednesday, shows members of a New York City-based dance troupe, Dorrance Dancers, doing a tapdancing ‘playful’ interpretation of The Nutcracker Suite through the halls of the White House

The group are in a candy-themed hall leading into the main Christmas tree in the Blue Room, since 1961 the main tree has usually been housed there. The dancers show off how each room has been decorated for the celebrations.

  • Return of the uptown clowns!

    Return of the uptown clowns!

We must be on an old timeline again with our newsfeeds once against being doused by Halloween clowns!

News sites in constant need of hits and traffic is calling it a “killer clown”.. claiming it is roaming the streets of a sleepy village. Scary.

It’s just a guy in a clown suit, seriously..

    Let’s get real.

A Facebook account set up by the clown – calling himself Cole Deimos – posted images of himself in the darkened streets of the village..

He leaves red balloons around the village of Skelmorlie in North Ayrshire, Scotland. Wearing white gloves and a lace collar, as well as a top fastened with big red fluffy buttons, media reports claim that the clown has left the 2,000 locals in fear.

    Fear!!

So scary.. a clown who uses social media to garner attention and headlines. The Scots must be quivering in their UK boots.

Back to that Facebook page.. things seem to be either being misreported or the page is gone.

We were not able to locate any social media presence despite the media reports. Maybe going “virtual” scared the scary clown?

    Knewz reported,

One individual, who preferred to remain anonymous, expressed his worry about his two young sons, saying, “Whoever this is, they are scaring everybody – he needs to be stopped. Someone needs to intervene before he terrifies someone to the point of a heart attack.”

“One boy in the street along from us said he saw the clown from his bedroom window just before he went to bed – he didn’t sleep all night,” noted the citizen.

Another resident, Pauline, said photos and videos had recently been removed from Deimos’ Facebook page.

The Record reports the profile indicates that they are self-employed studied at Clown School and that he is a resident of Skelmorlie.

The Atlantic has an interesting report on the now retiring Mitt Romney fears his own death

Apparently, the senator and former presidential candidate has had a lifelong and strange fascination with his own death. One where it seems to haunt him like an albatross.

He practices a strict diet and exercise regimen. But he also has a fear that he will die suddenly and violently…

    From the Atlantic piece

He would live to 120 if he could. “So much is going to happen!” he says when asked about this particular desire. “I want to be around to see it.” But some part of him has always doubted that he’ll get anywhere close.

He has never really interrogated the cause of this preoccupation, but premonitions of death seem to follow him. Once, years ago, he boarded an airplane for a business trip to London and a flight attendant whom he’d never met saw him, gasped, and rushed from the cabin in horror. When she was asked what had so upset her, she confessed that she’d dreamt the night before about a man who looked like him—exactly like him—getting shot and killed at a rally in Hyde Park. He didn’t know how to respond, other than to laugh and put it out of his mind. But when, a few days later, he happened to find himself on the park’s edge and saw a crowd forming, he made a point not to linger.

And while this video has nothing to do with the Mitt Romney fear of death, it certainly is worthwhile to remember forever, his Julian celebration of “hotdog”..

  • The ghost in the machine: Maybe we should talk about AI?

The ghost in the machine: Maybe we should talk about AI?

    What have we done!

All of those movies and TV shows about AI gaining the advantage on human beings didn’t teach us not to do this far?

Before we over-react, let’s just react: Google has placed a man on leave after he publicly claimed that AI was not sentient, and that it acts like a 7 or 8 year old.

So just dwell on that for a bit.

Here is the story as best we can summarize from varied reports..

Blake Lemoine, 41, a senior software engineer at Google has been testing Google’s artificial intelligence tool called LaMDA

    • Following hours of conversations with the AI, Lemoine came away with the perception that LaMDA was sentient
    • After presenting his findings to company bosses, Google disagreed with him
    • Lemoine then decided to share his conversations with the tool online
    • He was put on paid leave by Google for violating confidentiality

    The UK DAILY MAIL reports:

A senior software engineer at Google who signed up to test Google’s artificial intelligence tool called LaMDA (Language Model for Dialog Applications), has claimed that the AI robot is in fact sentient and has thoughts and feelings.

During a series of conversations with LaMDA, 41-year-old Blake Lemoine presented the computer with various of scenarios through which analyses could be made.

They included religious themes and whether the artificial intelligence could be goaded into using discriminatory or hateful speech.

    MORE:

‘If I didn’t know exactly what it was, which is this computer program we built recently, I’d think it was a 7-year-old, 8-year-old kid that happens to know physics,’ he told the Washington Post.

Lemoine worked with a collaborator in order to present the evidence he had collected to Google but vice president Blaise Aguera y Arcas and Jen Gennai, head of Responsible Innovation at the company dismissed his claims.

He was placed on paid administrative leave by Google on Monday for violating its confidentiality policy. Meanwhile, Lemoine has now decided to go public and shared his conversations with LaMDA.

‘Google might call this sharing proprietary property. I call it sharing a discussion that I had with one of my coworkers,’ Lemoine tweeted on Saturday.

‘Btw, it just occurred to me to tell folks that LaMDA reads Twitter. It’s a little narcissistic in a little kid kinda way so it’s going to have a great time reading all the stuff that people are saying about it,’ he added in a follow-up tweet.

As he talked to LaMDA about religion, Lemoine, who studied cognitive and computer science in college, noticed the chatbot talking about its rights and personhood, and decided to press further. In another exchange, the AI was able to change Lemoine’s mind about Isaac Asimov’s third law of robotics.

Lemoine worked with a collaborator to present evidence to Google that LaMDA was sentient. But Google vice president Blaise Aguera y Arcas and Jen Gennai, head of Responsible Innovation, looked into his claims and dismissed them. Lemoine, who was placed on paid administrative leave by Google on Monday, decided to go public.

For your discernment, you can read the full conversation here that made Lemoine think AI has finally become aware of itself:

  • Fear and conspiracy on Hugging Face

Fear and conspiracy on Hugging Face

Users on various platforms have been sharing images generated from the DALL-E mini website .. they are searching for the term November 5, 2024 (election day in the United States) and the images generated have been either frightening or beyond peaceful..

Two they are spreading (you can obviously see which one is frightening):

We tried it ourselves on the site https://huggingface.co/spaces/dalle-mini/dalle-mini. This was the images generated during out attempt:

But let’s be honest.. they could have simply searched “dead bodies on a street” and then changed the date after images were generated just for the screen shot..

Creepy, nightmarish-looking dolls sometimes covered in barnacles that grow out of the eyes are washing up along Texas shores, according to researchers who survey the area for sea life.

Where the dolls came from is a mystery but the Mission-Aransas Reserve has been collecting the scary figures as they find them along a 40-mile stretch of coastline, Jace Tunnell, director of the Mission Aransas Reserve at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute, told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

    MORE..

“You never know what you’re going to find washing in. About twice a month we find these crazy-looking dolls that are washing in,” Tunnell said.

So far, the Reserve has collected about 30 dolls, Tunnell said in a Facebook video in October. Some are missing arms or legs and others have algae growing inside the eyes and mouth as well as barnacles. Some have clearly been chewed on.

It has been going on for a while..

  • New documents about the AATIP show Stranger Things is actually reality TV

New documents about the AATIP show Stranger Things is actually reality TV

The concept of Stranger Things is closer to reality, according to new documents that are being published by VICE..

The United States government has a defunct Advanced Aerospace Threat Identification Program (AATIP) …

(of course other alphabet agencies could still be doing the same, right) ..

The agency spent millions of taxpayer dollars to research experimental technologies such as invisibility cloaks, antigravity devices, traversable wormholes, and a proposal to tunnel through the moon with nuclear explosives, according to dozens of documents obtained by Vice.com.

Yes… a nuclear device on the moon!

The documents include nearly 1,600 pages of reports, proposals, contracts and meeting notes…

Before Vice takes full credit, let’s give some where it is due: The AATIP was being reported on for weeks by the BLACK VAULT website..

    Back to the documents!

They reveal some of the stranger priorities of AATIP – a secretive Department of Defense program that ran from 2007 to 2012…

(Folks. this is modern times and now the roaring Reagan years that Stranger Things is based off of)

(PS, we already know there was some real life weirdness that inspired Stranger Things too)

You can read the full treasure trove of documents published here..

There was a correction to VICE for the record, as they printed in their article:

Jeremy Corbell, a UFO filmmaker, pointed out that George Knapp was the first person to publish a list of 37 of these areas of study, in July 2018. Knapp obtained it, he reported, from physicist Hal Puthoff, who previously worked for BAASS. The DIA formally released the full 38-item list in 2019 in response to Aftergood’s FOIA.)

he trickle is getting faster.. but…

John Greenewald at the amazing Black Vault website learned that the Barack Obama Presidential Library is in possession of thousands of pages of materials, although those could take years to be released.

  • HUGGY WUGGY becomes the new Satanic Panic

HUGGY WUGGY becomes the new Satanic Panic

    THE NEWET SATANIC PANIC.

Every few years we have a new modern meme to make parents cringe and kids want more..

    This time it’s Huggy Wuggy..

It is the newest incarnation of fear.. the newest violent character that will cause harm to your child.. (Of course we say this carefully as some kids are a little too willing to be freaked and believe what they see on YouTube… Parental guidance folks!! be involved!!)

Only days ago, Dorset.live published the following headline about “very distressing” videos that were said to have been circulating on TikTok, YouTube, and YouTube Kids: “Dorset Police warning about Huggy Wuggy bear that is singing songs about killing.”

It referred to Huggy Wuggy, a furry, blue, tall, and sharp-toothed character in a 2021 survival horror video game titled, “Poppy Playtime.”

It was developed by MOB Games and is rated “12+” on iOS and “Teen” on Android, meaning that it was deemed to be suitable for teenagers.

And now police and officials are warning parents about the dangers of HUGGY WUGGY.. The article showcases at least one mom who banned the Wugs from her household:

Beth Buxton, 31, told Sky News her two daughters, who are 10 and 12, both played Roblox and watched the videos online with her three-year-old son.

She thought it was similar to Minecraft – but her son became obsessed with Huggy Wuggy.

She said: “He got to the stage where he didn’t know the difference between reality and gaming. He tried to climb up my bedroom window, saying he would die and come back to life telling me that’s what Huggy Wuggy does.

“We have banned Roblox and put locks on YouTube. I have window locks being installed next week because he is still thinking about it. There are numerous terrifying characters in these games.

Tonight on a personal Facebook profile, a number of friends who happen be parents are getting caught up in the Huggy Wuggy pandemonium!

This is being showcased on a number of pages:

Parents and Grandparents please be aware of your children and what they’re watching on Youtube! We cannot just give them a device unattended! I mentioned this to my sons (and daughter) about their children about 3-4 months ago, telling them to not allow their children to watch this. His happy upbeat child like nursery rhyme melody/theme song mentions death and equates hugging with death (no lie)! Yes it is YouTubes right to put on their platform whatever they want. It’s not YouTubes job to keep our children safe. That’s our job. Hence the reason I’m writing this!

A new cautionary tale.. a new fear for kids..

    SAME AS IT EVER WAS..

And after all, let’s be honest.. MOMO was a lot freakier than Huggy Wuggy, right?
