This could be the worst storm that #Jamaica has ever experienced..
In just 18 hours Melissa has rapidly intensified from a 70 MPH Tropical Storm to a 140 MPH Cat. 4 hurricane–at least at the time this is written. It is undoubtedly going to zoom to a Cat. 5 before landfall in Jamaica Tuesday morning.
It is also being predicted that it will be the worst Jamaica has ever experienced..
It would appear that the worst of the fearful predictions are coming true..
Sustained winds of 170+ and gust of 200+ MPH are possible at maximum if it continues at this rate. The highest sustained wind speed ever recorded in the Atlantic basin was 190 MPH from Hurricane Allen in 1980.
Watching this storm in motion is frightening..
Hurricane Melissa has explosively intensified from a Category 1 to Category 4 storm in just the last 12 hours.
This is the worst-case scenario for Jamaica, as Melissa could make landfall as a Category 5 storm early Tuesday morning. pic.twitter.com/9cq0RLnKib
October 25 1990: the day spooky Springfield history was made. The very first Treehouse of Horror episode of The Simpsons aired on FOX. Back then it was simply called The Simpsons Halloween Special .. and it kicked off what would become one of the most beloved Halloween traditions on TV.
The episode pulled inspiration straight out of those eerie 1950s horror comics, and even began with a tongue-in-cheek disclaimer warning that it “might be too scary for children.” It also had that classic opening pan through a cemetery filled with funny tombstones .. it was a joke that became iconic before eventually disappearing in later years.
The stories themselves were told by Bart, Lisa, and Maggie in the family’s treehouse: three twisted tales that set the tone for decades to come. First, a haunted house riffing on The Amityville Horror and Poltergeist. Then came the debut of Kang and Kodos, those slimy alien siblings who abduct the Simpsons in a darkly comic “To Serve Man” parody. Finally, the show closed with one of the greatest Simpsons segments ever made, a dramatic retelling of Edgar Allan Poe’s “The Raven,” featuring the voice of the legendary James Earl Jones.
And just like that, a tradition was born. Now, all of Treehouse of Horror episodes later, it’s impossible to imagine Halloween without them. They hace become as much as tradition as anything else ..
What’s funny is how something meant to parody horror has now become its own kind of prophecy because every year it feels like The Simpsons somehow predicts the future. From political moments to pop culture events, people keep pointing back to old episodes saying, “See? They knew!” Maybe it’s coincidence. Maybe it’s satire gone psychic. Either way, that first Halloween special started something that’s still giving us chills — and predictions — 35 years later.
This could be a controversial opinion. But there are many more memorable scenes from the second film of the series compared to the first.
Halloween II picks up right where John Carpenter’s 1978 classic left off .. literally seconds after Michael Myers disappears into the darkness. The sequel takes us deeper into the same October 31st night, only now the screams echo through Haddonfield Memorial Hospital instead of quiet suburban streets.
The movie doesn’t wastes little time with new setups or character introductions; it just drops you right back into that same world, that same panic, that same cold air that hung over the end of the first film. You feel the chaos in the cold night.. even Mrs. Elrod screams as she makes a sandwich and finds blood–to this day we don’t know if her husband wanted mayo or mustard.
There a few interesting back stories to Halloween II almost .. one major point is that it almost didn’t happen the way we know it.
Carpenter himself didn’t originally plan a direct sequel and he envisioned the Halloween name turning into an anthology of different scary stories. He was YEARS ahead of his time on that thought process.
Moustapha Akkad sensed a hit… and it was time to capitalize ..
After the studio pushed for more Michael Myers Carpenter grudgingly agreed to write it. He’s even said he wrote the script with a six-pack of beer by his side, just trying to make sense of what would happen next. That might explain the surreal, dream-like pacing the film has. The movie is admittedly a little sloppy, but hazier, and far more violent than the first.
The mask was back. It was still the same Shatner face, but this time yellowed by chain smoking that Debra Hill subjected it to. Also the new inhabitant with a different face shape. Dick Warlock’s mug was rounder while Nick Castle was longer, hence the difference in appearance.
The new film also had more blood–Carpenter did that on purpose to match what audiences were then wanting. Akkad wasn’t overly happy with that because the TV broadcasts had to be tamed down ..
Jamie Lee Curtis’ Laurie Strode became the face of the “final girl” trope. But in the sequel, she spends much of the movie confined to a hospital bed, drugged and traumatized, yet still somehow finds the strength to fight back. Donald Pleasence returns as Dr. Loomis, more unhinged than ever, shouting his famous lines about evil and destiny as he hunts Michael through sterile hallways. It is the hospital scenes that give the most feeling of the film. The fluorescent lights, the empty corridors, beeping heart monitors, all building to that fiery ending.
There were several points of Halloween 2 that feel like a docu-drama. You can feel the chaos and panic of the police in the movie–this is exactly how small town America police faced with a gory bloody scene of teenagers being killed would actually react. Now poor Ben Tramer got the brunt. Was it Loomis’ fault by the way? We never really get the chance to flesh that out..
To us, not only scarier but quite frankly better. Halloween II seems to get better with each passing year despite Carpenter still unwilling to embrace the face that he and Hill either accidentally or unwittingly created a classic.
Perhaps the only pet peeve is that this movie could have been renamed ALL SAINTS DAY since it mostly took place after Halloween, mostly on November 1 if you think about the continuity.
It’s often overshadowed by the original, but Halloween II deserves more credit. It’s the movie that closed the story of Laurie and Michael (at least until later recreations), expanded the mythology, and gave us the twist that Laurie was his sister .. love it or hate it, it was a plot line that shaped the franchise for decades.
When Halloween ENDS came out, fans watched.. and never watched again. But they loved the opening 7 minutes that herald back to the original night he came home. There is lure in a way to what Michael Myers did in the immediate aftermath to Loomis’ six shots.
While ENDS gives us a perspective of a movie that Carpenter never made, we still love the one he did: Halloween II is better than Halloween 1.
We finally saw the BLACK PHONE 2 and loved it. When a movie hits you emotionally, especially a horror film, you know it did something right.
Just got out from seeing The Black Phone 2 in theaters–a little late i know..
I have to say, I’m writing this with that fresh post-movie buzz. Honestly, this might be a little horror masterpiece of 2025. It picks up where the last film left off, and we dive right back into Finn’s world.. yeah, the same Finn who beat the Grabber the first time around.
This time around we have a different Finn and a very different atmosphere.. There is no feeling of victory here.. no hero mentality. Instead we have a mass amount of trauma..
What makes this sequel really shine is how it plunges us into life after trauma. We see Finn, his sister with her eerie psychic dreams, and their dad, who’s still got plenty of issues of his own. There’s guilt, stress, and a whole lot of darkness everyone’s carrying around. The movie does an incredible job showing how these characters are dealing (or not dealing) with their inner demons.
There was something this movie did very well: It drew us into the darkness with it. Seeing the theater in a dim theater is a perfect coupling of the atmosphere. You feel the bleakness and the depth of personal stress these characters are being forced to embrace..
And let me tell you, the dream sequences? Absolutely breathtaking. They pull you into this surreal, otherworldly atmosphere that just hits different. You’re not just watching a horror movie; you’re feeling every ounce of the characters’ emotions.
It’s dark, yes, but it’s also one of those films where you end up genuinely loving the characters. There is actually some depth to them, and not some void of mindlessness that horror films can give us. This time around, there as no playing around. We have grit and bluntness.. we had desperation and big issues. This movie did not shy away and stay safe. It dares to be different and, in the end, despite having a few little continuity issues for me, it became an instant hit. When a movie hits you emotionally, especially a horror film, you know it did something right.
By the end, you’re rooting for them, and that’s not something every horror movie pulls off. So if you can, catch it in a theater—let that darkness just surround you. It’s totally worth it.
See this in a theater while there is still a chance.
Some people may be bored by #CARRIE.. but come on people, #MikeFlanagan made it!
Mike Flanagan Wraps Filming on the New Carrie Remake
For about nine months, people have been groaning that we don’t really need another remake of Carrie from the Stephen King series. But Mike Flanagan was chosen to do it — and the series will be releasing soon on Prime Video.
According to Flanagan’s own post, filming is officially wrapped. Listen, I’m in the same camp where remakes are getting really old. But I’m also in the camp where Mike Flanagan can touch a piece of horse manure and somehow turn it into something extravagant.
Now, Carrie was never horse manure — not by a long shot — but it’s also not one of my personal favorites. Still, with Flanagan at the helm, it has the promise to become something much more exquisite.
Later, the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office in Orlando confirmed the death to TMZ, saying, “We are still in the process of completing our exams” on the deceased.
This marks the third death on Disney property in just over a week — following a reported suicide on October 14, also at the Contemporary Resort, and another body discovered at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground on October 21.
And if that wasn’t unsettling enough, back in early October, a person was found unresponsive inside the Haunted Mansion ride and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
It’s safe to say that this has not been a magical October for Disney.
But this is not the first dark time for the park..
For a park that gets so many a year, it would be inevitable that some not such great things happen from time to time..
The park’s first death happened three years after its grand opening in 1974 when a light bulb filament ignited fumes from glue being used by a 49-year-old carpenter Robert Marshall as he was repairing a boat, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Four-year-old Joel Goode tragically drowned in 1977 after falling into the moat that surrounds Disney’s iconic Cinderella’s Castle. The boy’s parents successfully sued Disney for $4 million, but jurors determined Goode’s parents were partially liable and halved the payout o $2 million, according to the Tampa Times.
11-year-old Long Island boy Robert Johnson Jr., contracted a brain-eating amoebic infection after swimming in the lukewarm, unchlorinated River Country water park.
River Country — permanently closed in 2001 — claimed two others by drowning, one of the park’s most common causes of death.
In 1987, a 6-year-old boy drowned in a crowded swimming pool at the park. The family later sued, claiming there should have been more lifeguards on duty, and Disney settled for $250,000, according to reports.
Lane Graves, 2, was attacked by an alligator on the shore of the Seven Seas Lagoon. The gator pulled the boy into the water, and his body was recovered the following day.
Perhaps the most bizarre death: when Javier Cruz, a cast member wearing a Pluto costume, was run over by the “Beauty and the Beast” float during the Share a Dream Come True Parade in 2014.
One of the deadliest years was 1982, when a 2-year-old girl was hit in the head with a hanging menu board; a 36-year-old woman collapsed at the Polynesian Village Resort; and a 1-year-old girl fell from a moving tram.
In 1989, Long Island woman Patricia Schenck, 33, was killed when the small speed boat she was piloting broadsided a ferry in the Seven Seas Lagoon.
In 1984, South Carolina’s Gary and Dorine Newell, and their infant daughter, Stephanie, died when the single-engine Piper plane they were flying in crashed while attempting an emergency landing in the EPCOT Center parking lot. Then, in 1987, Rick Harper, a 27-year-old cast member, died when the ultralight plane he was piloting crashed during a rehearsal for EPCOT’s “Skyleidoscope” show.
In 2000, a 37-year-old man was struck and killed by the Magic Kingdom Skyway. Ten years later, Massachusetts man Robert Krueger, 69, stepped in front of a Disney bus in the parking lot of Port Orleans Resort.
This looks too br a recipe for a disaster over certain parts of the CARRIBEAN…
Tropical Storm Melissa is forecast to rapily intensify into a major hurricane this weekend as it lashes Jamaica and parts of the northern Caribbean, bringing days of life-threatening, potentially catastrophic impact.
More..
Jamaica looks to be the epicenter for the worst of Melissa’s triple threat of extreme rainfall flooding, wind damage and storm surge. Melissa could make landfall on Jamaica late Monday or early Tuesday.Haiti also continues to be in thick of Melissa’s destructive flood and landslide threats.
A flashback: The DC Sniper case in October 2002 put a nation on edge. A look back.
There was something different about that fall. It wasn’t just the cool wind or the early darkness. It was the quiet sense that danger could be anywhere — at a gas station, a parking lot, a grocery store. After the collective fear of 9/11 and the anthrax scares that followed, America was still trying to breathe again. Then, as if on cue, came a new shadow: the D.C. sniper.
It started on October 2, 2002. People were going about their everyday lives when the unthinkable happened. A man was shot in a parking lot in Maryland — random, senseless. Then it happened again. And again. By the end of the spree, ten innocent people were dead and three were injured. They were fathers, mothers, students — ordinary people who simply happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. And that was the most chilling part: there was no pattern, no clear motive, no reason. The randomness itself was the terror.
We actively reported it at the time for the HORROR REPORT (yes we are getting old)..
At that time, we focused on the crime, the mystery, the psychics saying they knew whodunit.. and even Geraldo saying it was linked to terrorism..
It wasn’t.
The Snipers: A Twisted Bond
When the names were finally revealed, John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo, the story only grew darker. Muhammad, the older man, was seen as a manipulative father figure. Malvo, only 17, was the student, the son, and eventually, the one pulling the trigger. It was a relationship that blurred the line between control and indoctrination. The mystery grew deeper.
Investigators later learned that Muhammad’s motive wasn’t random at all. Beneath the chaos was a horrifyingly personal plan.. he wanted to kill his ex-wife, Mildred Muhammad, and hide her murder within the randomness of the spree. Each shooting was designed to make her eventual death look like just another part of the pattern. It’s almost too cruel to comprehend: an entire region terrorized so one man could cover up his own obsession.
Malvo, during his trial, revealed how Muhammad had filled his head with delusions … convincing him they were soldiers on a mission.
Over time, Malvo became the primary shooter, operating from the trunk of a modified Chevrolet Caprice with a small hole drilled near the license plate. He was a minor, controlled by a man with a criminally methodical mind.
The Capture Code
Here is where things get a little creepier.. A little known aspect of the crime remains mostly a mystery even today.
After three weeks of terror, authorities finally caught the pair at a rest stop near Myersville, Maryland, on October 24, 2002. But even the capture carried a strange aura. Montgomery County Police Chief Charles Moose stepped up to the podium and spoke the now-infamous words: “We have caught the sniper like a duck in a noose.” Even more.. Police Chief Charles Moose read that sentence aloud late as part of his message to the sniper, adding: “We understand that hearing us say this is important to you.”
What does the phrase “caught like a duck in a noose” mean to the sniper?
Authorities are not revealing the context in which the sniper – if he is indeed the author of notes left for police – asked them to publicly say: “We have caught the sniper like a duck in a noose.”
Police Chief Charles Moose read that sentence aloud late Wednesday night, as part of his latest message to the sniper, adding: “We understand that hearing us say this is important to you.”
There were rumors immediately afterwards *and even today* that this was all MK ULTRA related and this statement had to be read in order to ‘turn off’ the brain that was wired and programmed to kill. Seriously, with the lack of explanation over the years, this continued to be a point of contention. And remains one of those strange, lingering details ..
The Trials: Justice and Consequence
In the years that followed, both Muhammad and Malvo faced trial. Muhammad was found guilty and sentenced to death in 2004. Malvo, being a juvenile, was sentenced to life in prison without parole.
The defense for Malvo painted him as a victim of manipulation — a teenager molded and brainwashed by a master manipulator. They argued he wasn’t fully responsible for his actions, but rather under the control of someone he saw as a father. Muhammad’s defense, on the other hand, had little to stand on. The evidence was overwhelming, the motive chillingly clear. On November 10, 2009, John Allen Muhammad was executed by lethal injection in Virginia. He refused to utter last words prior to his the execution.
His ex-wife, Mildred Muhammad, later became an advocate for domestic violence survivors. She founded a nonprofit called After the Trauma to help victims rebuild their lives. Her story — surviving abuse, losing her sense of safety, and then rebuilding her purpose — became a powerful counterpoint to the darkness he caused.
Lingering Shadows and Theories
Even after justice was served, the story never truly ended. The D.C. sniper case feels like a mirror reflecting both the fragility of normal life and the deep, unsettling capacity for manipulation and control. For those who lived through it, the fear was real. People zigzagged while pumping gas, ducked behind car doors, and watched the tree lines. It was psychological warfare in broad daylight.
And then there’s that phrase — “the duck in a noose.” Some say it was just a bit of theater; others think it was something more — a cryptic sign from higher up, maybe even tied to deeper conspiracies or hidden messages. Like many dark chapters in American history, this one leaves room for speculation. Maybe that’s part of what keeps it alive in the public mind: the unanswered questions, the lingering unease, the feeling that not every part of the story has been told.
The D.C. sniper case is now history.. but it’s also a reminder of how fear spreads, how control corrupts, and how quickly ordinary days can turn extraordinary in the worst way. In a way it’s about the fall of 2002, when America once again found itself staring into the unknown after a long period of tension..
Even as the facts are settled and the case is closed, there’s still that phrase hanging in the air .. a duck in a noose.
A cryptic whisper fear ruled enough for people to wonder if they may randomly meet a terrible fate.
So you don’t need a Ouija board after all! Just go buy a Tesla.
So, let’s set the scene: Imagine you’re driving your Tesla through a quiet cemetery. It’s Halloween season, the perfect time for a little eerie tale.
Suddenly, your car’s sensor pings and shows a person detected right ahead. You look around—no one there. But the screen’s got this little figure moving, like someone’s walking among the gravestones. Creepy, right?
Is your Tesla a paranormal investigator on wheels?
In reality, what’s most likely happening on a purely logical level is that the car’s sensors are picking up on gravestones or other objects and mistaking them for people. Tesla’s not exactly out here confirming ghost sightings, but it’s a known quirky glitch—especially in places with a lot of oddly shaped stationary objects.
Right, that sounds logical, doesn’t it?
But…. let’s watch some videos and decide.
Technology can be spooky.
Are these Teslas just giving us a scare around Halloween?
Well if not, then you don’t need a Ouija board just go buy a Tesla. Just remember, it’s all explainable…or is it?
The comet! The intrigue! The potential mothership.
The famed Harvard professor is continuing to make the rounds in various media circuits in preparation for next week’s near Earth encounter with whatever in the world 3I/Atlas really is..
And this time Avi Loeb is hinting that we should be prepared for a potential black swan event!
🚨 3I/ATLAS – Astrophysicist Avi Loeb ; Suspicious comet may herald ‘black swan event’: – Elizabeth Vargas Reports pic.twitter.com/zSxmmB5Z5Y
Reaction to Loeb has been mixed.. some love him. Some think he is punking us all.. He also divides the UFO world, even Richard C. Hoagland had tension on Ground Zero with Clyde Lewis several weeks ago when Hoagland angrily asked Lewis to get Loeb on the air so he could debate him..
According to the New York Post, this is the first time ever that an interstellar object has been zoned in on by the group in a campaign, triggering one to sharpen skills and prepare the world for a possible threat from space.
Some of the bizarre behavior includes having an anti-tail, a particle jet that’s directed at the sun rather than vice versa, which is typically how comets flow. 3I/ATLAS also discharged a column that contained four grams of nickel per second, with no iron being present, which is unusual for comets, per The Post.
Before you get TOO Freaked over the threat.. In accordance, IAWN will be conducting a “comet campaign from November 27, 2025, through January 27, 2026”to refine methods for pinpointing ATLAS’ exact location.
“To prepare for the campaign, we will hold a workshop on techniques to correctly measure comet astrometry (a transformation without a change to a figure’s shape or size, such as rotation or reflection),” they wrote. Developing all weekend long in a space near you.
