New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday issued an emergency order suspending the right to carry firearms in public across Albuquerque and the surrounding county for at least 30 days in response to a spate of gun violence.
The Democratic governor said she expects legal challenges but was compelled to act because of recent shootings, including the death of an 11-year-old boy outside a minor league baseball stadium this week.

Morocco quake leaves hundreds dead

Hundreds of people have been killed after a powerful 6.8-magnitude earthquake struck Morocco on Friday night.
The epicenter was in the High Atlas mountains, about 72 kilometers (44.7 miles) southwest of Marrakech, a city of some 840,000 people and a popular tourist destination.

Despite people’s objections the concept was perfect for a film adaptation and we hope it’s as fun as the original game was years ago when it was released..

There has been a lot of pre-release hostility for this movie, even before people see it. Will it be OSCAR worthy or even CHAINSAW AWARD worthy? No! But it does not have to be. If it provides jump scares, tacky humor, a few creepy parts, and something that could be teenage friendly, that is all we need.
The game was a phenom.. the movie won’t be.. But if it captures the right audience, a lot of 12-14 year old kids who played the game as a child will flock to theaters. Of course they need to go with an adult as it is rated R..

Fright Night. Nostalgia Night.
A friend of mine reminded me tonight about this great movie from the 1980s.. he said he was catching a viewing of it this Friday night. FRIGHT NIGHT was a special kind of horror–and his message reminded me of the spectacular VHS cover that always caught my eye in my local video store back in the day..
Were these times simpler as we all think they were? Or were we just blinded..
Those who read this post and say “the old man is talking about VHS movies again” just will not comprehend the time.. the idea of not scrolling through on a screen but checking to see if the little yellow card was still rubber banded to the back of the movie in the store…
Sure, modern times are great. Easy.. Any movie you want at your fingertips.
But that quest.. that hunt.. that time when a movie was not there.. when you had to wait until it was returned.. they were kind of.. simpler?

It was a particularly tense day on the set of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The host, known for his warm and congenial presence onscreen, was acting especially dismissive and irritable during production meetings, a former longtime employee tells Rolling Stone. Then he stumbled through rehearsal in front of a studio audience, who typically sit in on rehearsals for the late-night show. Employees who spoke to Rolling Stone about their experiences working on The Tonight Show say it’s common knowledge behind the scenes that there are “good Jimmy days” — where Fallon’s wit and charm and creativity are on full display — and “bad Jimmy days.” This was a “bad Jimmy day,” according to the employee.
There are reports of employees losing weight.. losing hair.. being on eggshells about Fallons temper and willingness to fire someone at a moments notice.

Dreamweaver Gary Wright dead at 80
The “Dream Weaver” musician died after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and dementia. TMZ first reported the news, which was also shared by Wright’s friends.
The composer’s son, Justin Wright, said that his father died at his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California, on Monday morning, Sept. 4.
The news came approximately six years after the “Love Is Alive” singer was diagnosed with Parkinson’s and not long after, with dementia.
