The death of a really awesome game: JASON gets a permanent shutdown

Just as we put the Christmas tree down, we wanted to play FRIDAY THE 13th on Playstation.. and we realized we were living under a rock and forgot we missed the chance.

The game is dead…

It died December 31, 2024.

Friday the 13th: The Game has just ended online service..

While Friday the 13th was removed from storefronts in 2023, players who already owned the game had access to it through the very end of New Year’s Eve 2024. They used New Years eve to play their last rounds in tight bikinis while Jason searched for them in the woods of Camp Crystal Lake.

The game was mostly fun–besides the weird lags or game play errors. For the most part, it was a great game to play and it will be missed by the loyal fans who still had it.

The game succeeded in collecting a dedicated fanbase upon its release in 2017, but franchise creator Victor Miller’s legal battle over copyright first killed its ability to release new content, then Friday the 13th closed its servers in 2020, enabling only peer-to-peer matchmaking.

And now we have the game’s permanent shutdown on December 31, 2024..

Here is some game play from when the game was released years ago.

So the Playstation of Jason is gone, We will still always have the Nintendo version.

Nintedo cereal nostalgia is not really what it tasted like

It’s a Saturday morning, and maybe we’re just feeling nostalgic. This morning, we came across a picture on Facebook of Nintendo cereal, and it made us feel all verklempt inside.

Remember this stuff? We can’t really say it tasted great, but we certainly can say it was fun. For some reason, I remember not really enjoying the cereal as a kid, but I absolutely loved the box. To be honest, I would have much preferred Mr. T, E.T., or Batman cereal, but Nintendo cereal had its charm. While eating breakfast, you could stare at the box and pretend you were playing Nintendo—it was a whole vibe.

Seeing this box now almost makes me want to turn on the TV, watch Saturday morning cartoons, and revisit classics like Pee-wee’s Playhouse.

The Nintendo cereal was a marketing hit in the late 1980s, capitalizing on the booming popularity of the Nintendo Entertainment System. It came in a unique two-flavor box: one side featuring “Super Mario Bros.” cereal and the other “The Legend of Zelda.”

It was a novelty —it wasn’t just cereal; it was an extension of their favorite video games and with that commercial lots of kids with imaginations were looking from an escape from their breakfast table reality. The bright packaging and tie-ins with beloved Nintendo characters made it a must-have for fans, even if the taste didn’t live up to the hype.

But these are just fleeting memories, my friends, fleeting memories. And you know what? The more I think about it, the less tasty the cereal becomes in my mind. It wasn’t about the flavor; it was about the moment. Kids these days just won’t ever feel that.

China VirusES? Can we believe these social media reports? Before you panic let’s be sensible

Right now, at this moment, despite rumors there appears to be no credible sources AT THIS TIME that any of these events in China are occurring. That could change quickly–the Communist government may be keeping a tighter lid on things. Perhaps these rumors will be true.. and maybe Ms. Wang is right. Until confirmation.. keep your head up high and that mask in the back pocket..

PTSD hits the planet when news of China viruses breaking out occurs–especially when reports indicate high death rates, infections of younger people, and crematoriums being overwhelmed..

This is what is being reported now across social media: China is facing a surge in multiple viruses, including Influenza A, HMPV, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and COVID-19, overwhelming hospitals and crematoriums. Children’s hospitals are particularly strained by rising pneumonia and “white lung” cases.

This quote comes to us from sources quoting someone named Ms. Wang:

Ms. Wang, a funeral director in Zhejiang, described long cremation lines, with VIP furnaces in use, emitting heavy smoke. She likened the scene to a bustling New Year market. As a result, the government has declared a state of emergency in response to the escalating epidemic.

And a Youtube video from ‘Decoding China’ is another source..

BUT IS ANY OF THIS TRUE!?

Caution before believing headlines.. delve deep. There is no official mention of China declaring any emergencies.. additionally there is nothing from official health sources like the World Health Organization.

And while we are sure Ms. Wang exists.. who is she and where is she? Credible sources are necessary before we devolve into panic.

There were official reports in November of a surge of pneumonia in China along with other respiratory diseases. So it is very likely some hospitals are now being overwhelmed. Is it a COVID-like situation?

It should be noted that some sleuths have discovered some truths: That videos and clips being shown may be from years ago.

There are no statements or reliable reports to support these claims. A Community Note on X read: “There is no information to back up the claim that China has declared a state of emergency over epidemics overwhelming the hospitals and crematoriums in the country.”..

This is not to say we aren’t in store for wild pandemics in 2025–who knows. But right now, at this moment, despite rumors there appears to be no credible sources AT THIS TIME that any of these events in China are occurring. That could change quickly–the Communist government may be keeping a tighter lid on things. Perhaps these rumors will be true.. and maybe Ms. Wang is right. Until confirmation.. keep your head up high and that mask in the back pocket..

Lightning strikes on a new year

A Flash of 2024 or an Omen for 2025?

As the clock struck midnight, we welcomed the arrival of a brand-new 2025. While we did that, an unusual moment unfolded just hours before the New Year’s celebrations reached their peak, leaving us to wonder: was this nature’s final exclamation point on 2024, or a foreboding sign for the year ahead?

In the lead-up to the iconic Times Square ball drop, a powerful weather system swept across the East Coast, bringing heavy rain to many areas—including the heart of New York City. Amid the downpours, lightning illuminated the skies, with strikes captured on camera and video.

In a weird coincidence, both the United States Capitol and One World Trade Center were struck by lightning nearly simultaneously. This extraordinary moment added an electrifying twist to the final hours of the year.

As we look ahead to 2025, let’s choose to see this as one last flash of 2024—a vivid sendoff for a year now behind us—rather than a harbinger of challenges to come. Here’s to brighter days ahead.
