Norwegian scientists have seen polar bears eating dolphins in the Arctic for the first time ever and blame global warming for the bears expanding their diet.Polar bears feed mainly on seals but Jon Aars at the Norwegian Polar Institute has photographed dolphins being devoured by a bear and published his findings in the latest edition of Polar Research this month.“It is likely that new species are appearing in the diet of polar bears due to climate change because new species are finding their way north,” he told AFP.The first incident he documented was in April 2014 when his team came across a polar feeding on the carcasses of two white-beaked dolphins.Although dolphins are regularly seen in the Norwegian Arctic in the summer months when the ice has melted, they have never been observed during winter or spring when the sea is usually still covered in sheets of ice.

Every bike ride outside his home feels perilous to nine-year-old Yousef Rajabi.“The [Jewish] settlers harass me and I get death threats,” he told NBC News, referring to nearby residents. “They say to me that Palestinians should not live here.”
Yousef lives on Shuhada Street in Hebron, a once-bustling Palestinian thoroughfare that has been emptied of most of its original inhabitants. The street is Yousef’s playground — but one that is empty of all other children.
He and his mother, who are among just four Palestinian families to still live on the street which once featured hundreds of homes as well as 450 shops, are on the front line of the Israeli struggle to ensure Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank are safe from attack.
Some 330,000 Jews live in the West Bank, which Israel invaded in 1967 and Palestinians believe is an essential part of a future state.

Chinese hack of federal personnel files included security-clearance database
First it was four million.
Then it was every single federal employee..
Then retired employees..
Then veterans..
Then veterans’ families.
And now this according to reporting at the WASHINGTON POST BY
The Chinese breach of the Office of Personnel Management network was wider than first acknowledged, and officials said Friday that a database holding sensitive security clearance information on millions of federal employees and contractors also was compromised.
In an announcement, OPM said that investigators concluded this week with “a high degree of confidence” that the agency’s systems containing information related to the background investigations of “current, former and prospective” federal employees, and others for whom a background check was conducted, were breached.
And it’s not just current people who may need to worry.
“This is potentially devastating from a counterintelligence point of view,” said Joel Brenner, a former top counterintelligence official for the U.S. government, speaking about the latest revelation. “These forums contain decades of personal information about people with clearances . . . which makes them easier to recruit for foreign espionage on behalf of a foreign country.”
